Peel Progression: When to Upgrade a Client ✨

Stronger isn't always the right next step! Peel progression should follow skin readiness, not a schedule.

Before stepping any client up, run through this:
Full skin analysis — reassess barrier health, sensitivity, pigmentation, and congestion
Healing response — smooth recovery and minimal irritation are your green lights
Home care compliance — consistent pre/post-care and SPF use predict tolerance
Current peel response — plateaued results + good tolerance = ready to graduate
Intentional matching — upgrade to fit skin needs, not a request for "stronger"

Save this as a consult reference or team training tool.

Melanin Health Must-Haves: One pigment protocol won't fit every client. 🤎

Melanin-rich skin calls for options, not a single default serum.

MelaQuest Cysteamine Serum + Cream — for clients where pigmentation is the primary concern and a faster, more targeted brightening routine is the goal.

Advanced MelaQuest Serum + Cream — for more sensitive skin, a broader pigment strategy, or discoloration alongside other concerns.

Pairing a serum with a cream builds a complete protocol: direct pigment correction plus daily hydration, antioxidant support, and barrier care.

Ingredients to Know: Pigment Edition
Not all brightening ingredients work the same way. ✨

Cysteamine — inhibits tyrosinase to reduce melanin production; a hydroquinone-free option for melasma and PIH
Kojic Acid — supports improved appearance of discoloration and tone as part of a layered regimen
Hexylresorcinol + plant brighteners — support even tone in professional-friendly formulas
Vitamin C + Retinoids — antioxidant defense plus cellular renewal for compounding results

Pigment correction works best when these pathways are layered — not used in isolation.

Peel Mistakes to Avoid ✨ Protect your recovery, support your barrier, and help maintain your results.

- Don’t over-exfoliate. Skip scrubs, exfoliating tools, and additional acids—your skin is already in renewal mode.
- Don’t restart actives too soon. Pause AHAs, BHAs, retinoids, and other potentially irritating products until your skin professional gives you the all-clear.
- Don’t pick, peel, or scrub. Let flaking skin shed naturally to help reduce the risk of irritation, scarring, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
- Don’t skip sun protection. Freshly treated skin is more vulnerable to UV exposure. Seek shade, wear a hat, and apply the SPF recommended by your provider. ☀️🧴
- Don’t add excess heat too soon. Hold off on intense workouts, saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs during early recovery to help minimize heat-related redness and irritation.

Your post-peel care is part of your treatment—not an afterthought. Always follow the protocol and timing recommended by your licensed skin professional. Post-peel guidance commonly includes avoiding exfoliating acids and retinoids until peeling has resolved, not picking or rubbing the skin, and using diligent sun protection.

Save this checklist for your next resurfacing treatment—and share it with a client preparing for a DermaQuest resurfacer or chemical peel.

Advanced MelaQuest Serum in action 🤎✨ This is an award-winning Brightening Serum that helps visible brightening!

Melanin Health is the foundation of a bright, even, balanced complexion. When pigment production becomes uneven, it can show up as dark spots, post-inflammatory marks, or stubborn discoloration. Our hydroquinone-free Melanin Health solutions combine Cysteamine Complex, pigment-disrupting peptides, and protective plant stem cells to help visibly fade discoloration and support a more luminous, even-toned look—for every skin type, at every stage.

What is melasma? 🤎✨

Melasma is a common form of hyperpigmentation that appears as symmetrical brown or gray-brown patches—most often across the cheeks, forehead, nose, and upper lip.

It isn’t harmful, but it can be persistent. UV and visible light, heat, hormones, inflammation, and genetics can all contribute to flare-ups—so melasma care is never a quick fix. ☀️

The melanin-smart approach: consistent broad-spectrum, tinted SPF with iron oxides; barrier-supportive home care; pigment-targeting ingredients; and professionally guided treatments when appropriate. Visible-light protection is especially important, as it can worsen melasma, particularly in deeper skin tones.

Meet MelaQuest: DermaQuest’s hydroquinone-free brightening system, designed to help support a more even-looking tone while respecting the skin barrier. ✨

Peel season isn’t about doing more peels—it’s about doing them smarter. 🍂✨

At DermaQuest Clinical, every peel protocol begins with three essentials: a thorough skin analysis, an intentional peel selection, and a non-negotiable post-recovery plan.

1. Start with skin analysis
Before any chemical peel, assess skin type and condition, Fitzpatrick Skin Type, barrier status, pigment patterns, lifestyle, and treatment history. This helps support melanin health, minimize the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and determine whether the skin is truly ready to be resurfaced. 🧪🔍

2. Choose the right peel—not just the strongest one
Match the resurfacer type, strength, and protocol to the skin’s needs—whether you’re addressing acne, texture, visible aging, pigmentation, or melasma. DermaQuest resurfacers, the Skin Health System™, and pigment-conscious options such as MelaQuest help professionals create progressive, targeted treatment plans rather than taking a one-peel-fits-all approach. ✨

3. Make recovery part of the treatment
The first 1–7 days after a peel matter. Prioritize barrier support, gentle cleansing, mineral SPF, and a pause on unsupervised actives, picking, and additional treatments. A structured 4–6 week DermaQuest home-care regimen extends the corrective journey beyond the treatment room—and helps support lasting results.
