Pigment is implanted into the upper layer of the skin - the epidermis. This is the layer of skin that you can see and it is constantly shedding and renewing itself. Because of the process of cell turnover, the permanent make-up pigments will fade over time but never fade completely. To ensure that the color stays looking nice , yearly touch ups are recommended.
