We tend to stick with what we know.

The same route.
The same foods.
The same activities.

There’s nothing wrong with familiar. But sometimes trying something new gives us a chance to notice ourselves differently.

Trying something new isn’t about finding something better. It’s about giving yourself a different experience.

🍁 This fall, what’s one small new thing you could try?

Ever notice what happens when you’ve been focused on something for a while—or you’re just drained from the day?

Little by little, we start to curl forward.
Head drops.
Shoulders round.
Chest sinks.
The Charlie Brown hunch. 😜

Take a moment and change it.

Lift your chest a little.
Roll your shoulders back and down.
Let your head come up.
Sit tall—but relaxed.

Now notice.

Does your energy feel any different?
Your mood?
Your ability to focus?

Sometimes a small change in how we're holding our body can be enough to bring a little energy and attention back into the day.

And if you know you'll forget?
Set a timer. Give your body a reminder to come up for air. ❤️

Nervous system work isn’t about getting it “right” all the time.

It’s learning to catch what’s happening a little sooner, notice what you need, and do the best you can with what you have in that moment.

Some days we catch it early. Some days… we realize it later. That’s part of the practice too.

🍂 Fall Into Curiosity

What does it mean to become your own researcher?

It means getting curious about yourself instead of immediately deciding what something means — or jumping straight into trying to fix it.

Maybe your low back feels tight. Maybe you notice you’re more irritated than usual. Maybe your energy suddenly drops.

Start by gathering the data.
What was happening before I noticed this?
What else am I feeling in my body?
Has this happened before?
Is there a pattern I'm beginning to notice?

Then, choose something to try.
Maybe you change positions, move, rest, take a few slower breaths, go outside, or simply give yourself a few minutes before doing anything else.

Then keep up with the results.
Did it change anything?
Did it help a little, a lot, or not at all?
What might I want to try next time?

That’s being your own researcher.
You’re not trying to diagnose yourself or find the “right” answer. You’re gathering information, trying something, and learning from the results.

Over time, all of that data can help you understand your own patterns and what works for you.

🍁 Notice. Gather the data. Try something. Track the results. Stay curious.

🦘 A Quokka’s Perspective

The words we use.
Some little words don’t make a situation sound bigger.

They add pressure to it.

Should.
Just.

“I should be able to handle this.”
“I just need to get over it.”

Take a moment and read those slowly.
Notice what happens in your body.

Does anything tighten?
Do you feel pressure to hurry, fix, or push through?

Now try:

“I’m having a hard time with this right now.”
“I can give myself time to work through it.”

Pause again.
Notice what happens.

Should can create an expectation about where we think we’re supposed to be.
Just can minimize what we’re actually experiencing.

Just get over it.
Just calm down.
Just stop worrying.

But sometimes it isn’t “just” that simple.

Changing the words doesn’t mean we stop moving forward or working through something.

It means we can do that without adding another layer of pressure to an already difficult moment.

❤️ Tiny words can change the whole story.

This week, listen for the shoulds and justs that sneak into the way you talk to yourself.
You don’t have to correct them.
Start by noticing them.
Then notice what happens when you give yourself a little more room.

Small shifts. Gentle practice.

🐾 Shake it off — literally.

Not get over it.
Not ignore what you're feeling.
Not push through.

Sometimes your body has simply been in one position too long or has accumulated some tension and energy from the day.

So take a pause and move it.

Shake out your hands.
Shake out your arms.
Give your legs a little shake.
Let your shoulders move.

It doesn't need to be exercise. It doesn't need to be a whole practice.

Just a few seconds of movement can help loosen what you've been holding and give your body a little reset before you go on with your day.

Matilda does it without overthinking it. Maybe we can too. 🐾

Now that we're practicing... let's talk about caregiving.

Caring for someone else can make it very easy to stop noticing ourselves.
What do they need?
What needs to happen next?
What can I take care of?
Who else needs me?

Our attention keeps moving outward.
And sometimes we don't notice our own needs again until we're exhausted, irritable, overwhelmed, or simply have nothing left to give.

Supporting yourself while caring for someone else doesn't mean you care less.

It might mean noticing that you're hungry before you keep going.
Taking a few minutes to sit down.
Recognizing when your body is getting tense.
Asking someone else to help.
Saying, "I can't do that today."
Or simply checking in with yourself while you're checking on everyone else.

Caregiving doesn't always allow for long breaks, perfect boundaries, or plenty of time for ourselves.

That's why the small moments matter.
Can I stay connected to myself while I care for you?
Can both of us matter in this moment?
Caring for others is easier when you don't have to disappear to do it.

Notice → Support → Connect → Grow

🫧 What’s stirring in your nervous system?

Running late. Work demands. Family needs. Worry. Conflict. Emotions. Too much to do.

Individually, these moments may not seem like much. But our nervous system is responding to life all day long—and sometimes that activation begins to build.

We may notice it as tension, restlessness, irritability, a racing mind, tight muscles, changes in our breathing… or simply that feeling of being wound a little too tight.

🌿 Nervous System Reboot Introduction is about learning to notice what’s happening before the pressure takes over.

In this experiential class, we’ll explore nervous system awareness, simple body-based practices, and your body’s natural tremor mechanism as one way of working with accumulated stress and tension.

The goal isn’t to never feel stress.

It’s learning to recognize what your nervous system is doing—and having more ways to work with it along the way.

🧡 Awareness creates choice.
