A few reminders when booking:
• Please select every service you’d like to receive. (Shampoo service is already included with haircuts and color services.)
• For all chemical services, we no longer ask you to select your hair length or thickness during booking. Instead, please include your hair length in the appointment notes so your stylist knows what to expect and can schedule accordingly.

If using AI isn’t your thing, that’s okay! We still appreciate and love you just the same. 🩷

After receiving so many comments about using ChatGPT and suggestions to “just use Canva” or hire an independent designer, I wanted to clear a few things up.

I actually do use Canva quite often. The funny part? I’ve had people comment, “Stop using AI,” on graphics that I personally spent six hours creating in Canva. Six hours. So that criticism always makes me smile a little.

The reality is, I’m a hairstylist behind the chair five to six days a week while also running a business. On top of that, I’m managing appointments, errands, my family, my home, and everything else that comes with life. Spending six hours creating a handful of social media graphics just isn’t realistic on a regular basis.

It’s also worth mentioning that Canva itself includes AI features. I choose to use my own salon photos, my own work, and my own branding because I’m not comfortable advertising with someone else’s hairstyles or stock salon images. Whether I use Canva or ChatGPT, I’m uploading my own photos, writing my own content, choosing my own design direction, and editing everything until it represents my business the way I want it to.

I’ve also hired independent designers multiple times prior to ChatGPT becoming popular because I genuinely wanted to support local artists. Unfortunately, that experience wasn’t always positive. I paid for every revision, waited months for projects that were supposed to be completed much sooner(twice I waited over five months) and still had to keep chasing down my designs. As a small business owner, I simply don’t have the luxury of waiting months for marketing materials that I need this week or this month.

For me, ChatGPT is fast, customizable, affordable, and allows me to create exactly what I envision in about ten minutes instead of six hours.

Do I care about the concerns people raise regarding AI? Absolutely. But I also care deeply about my employees, my customers, and my community.

Because I save time and money where I can, I’m able to give back in ways that truly matter to me.

Every year we:
• Donate thousands of dollars to local schools, sports programs, and the arts.
• Support cancer research.
• Donate to homeless shelters.
• Support our local humane societies.
• Provide free haircuts for cancer patients.
• Offer free haircuts to military personnel before deployment and to veterans on Veterans Day.
• Offered complimentary services to people affected by the recent power outages.
• Regularly donate financially to the nonprofit organization that accepts our hair donations for cancer patients.
• Offer birthday discounts, back-to-school specials, and other ways to make salon services more affordable.
•Take my staff to events to enjoy together as a team.
•Have modern and functional equipment.
•Provide anything my staff may want or need.
…this list goes on…

These are the things that matter most to me.

My stylists are never expected to use ChatGPT or AI for their own content. This is simply a tool I use so I can spend less time sitting behind a computer and more time supporting my staff, taking care of my clients, and serving our community.

I truly respect that not everyone agrees with using AI, and that’s okay. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But respectful discussion is very different from judgment, bullying, or repeatedly belittling a small business because of the tools we choose to use.

At the end of the day, I hope what people remember isn’t whether an image started in Canva or ChatGPT; I hope they remember how they were treated when they walked through our doors.

My team and I genuinely love our customers and this community, and we will continue doing everything we can to provide the best service, the best experience, and a welcoming place for everyone.
