Yes, there are quicker ways to process beef suet into tallow, but I do not take shortcuts if quality is impacted. I traditionally render to bring you the highest quality tallow possible.

⚠️ So many companies are popping up that are jumping on the tallow skincare bandwagon. I've researched this and know that most of them don't even render their own tallow! This makes it so hard to control the quality of the beef and the rendering process.
Most of these companies use water and salt in their rendering and heat for HOURS (like 12+ 😱). As someone who studied biology, loved food science, and heavily test my products, this is INSANE.

💧The introduction of water, in the name of purifying to a scentless and odorless product, creates so many problems.

❌ The main issue is how you get rid of the water.

🌧️Some boil the tallow to evaporate the water.

🔥This gross overheating alters the fat composition, which is the very thing that is beneficial and healing in tallow.

🧂 Salt extracts many good properties from the tallow. It's just a mess.

⛔️ If you don't boil, you are selling a product that will mold quickly and cause more problems with skin issues.

❌I would HATE for this to happen. So many of my customers come with skin issues that nothing else helped, except tallow.

🫶🏼 We render all tallow in house. For the amount of tallow I render, this is A LOT to do. But the rendering process is THAT IMPORTANT!

Most farmers label all fat from the cow as "beef suet" ❌

True beef suet is the protective fat around the kidneys. This is a prized portion of the fat that contains higher vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids.

💛 We exclusively use beef suet. And render in house to make sure we always get true beef suet.

👉🏼 If we ever got beef fat, we would know right away and not render it for our skincare. This is the benefit of in house rendering and staying local 👏🏼

7 biggest mistakes people make with tallow skincare👇🏼

1️⃣ Using WAY too much

Tallow is incredibly rich. More is not better. For most faces, a pea-sized amount is plenty. Using too much can leave skin feeling greasy and prevent proper absorption.

It should absorb within 3-5min. If it hasn’t , you’ve used too much 😘

2️⃣ Using honey + tallow balms 🍯

We love raw honey. We love tallow. But they don’t belong in the same balm. Once honey is mixed into fats, its natural protection is compromised and moisture pockets can form, creating an environment where mold thrives.

3️⃣ Putting tallow on dry skin

Tallow doesn’t add water to your skin, it helps seal it in. Apply to slightly damp skin after cleansing for the best absorption and hydration. This small change makes the biggest difference!

4️⃣ Expecting tallow to reverse aging 👀

Tallow is amazing for supporting your skin barrier, reducing dryness, and nourishing the skin. But no skincare product can stop the aging process. Healthy skin? Yes. Reverse aging? No 🫶🏼

5️⃣ Keeping tallow in your car 🚗

Tallow is a natural fat. Extreme heat can alter texture, accelerate oxidation, and shorten shelf life. Store it in a cool, dry place whenever possible.

6️⃣ Using whipped tallow 💨

Whipping introduces millions of pockets of air throughout the balm. More air means more oxygen exposure, which increases oxidation and reduce long-term stability. Basically, whipped tallow goes rancid WAY quicker 😳 That’s why we choose dense, traditionally rendered balms over fluffy textures.

Not all tallow is created equal. Sourcing, rendering methods, ingredient quality, and transparency matter.
