The Carver Theater, Birmingham AL

Now known as the Carver Performing Arts Center, the theater originally opened as a motion picture theater in 1935. Closing sometime in the 1980s, it was bought by the city and renovated in 1990 and now operates as a live performance venue and the home of the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame.

When both people are laughing so hard you can't keep a straight face for a photo, you know you're having a good time.

Bama Six, Tuscaloosa AL

This week's post doesn't really fit the theme of small single screen theaters but it was a target of opportunity on my travels and so I wanted to include it. In the time that I lived in Tuscaloosa this was one of two movie theaters that I regularly attended. I have vivid memories of seeing The Matrix for the first time at this theater. After the film my friends and I stood in the lobby and discussed how movies would never be the same. And they haven't been.

The distinctive raised marquee and hallway that led to the theater still stand but the entire building that housed the six screes has been torn down. The theater opened in 1982 and closed in 2007.

Confession time. In addition to drip black coffee and quad-shot flat whites, I also truly enjoy a nice pumpkin spice latte. One of my customers knows this about me and to my great surprise recently brought me my first PSL of the season. It has been incredibly hot over the past couple weeks and this was a nice reminder that spooky season is just around the corner. I've also been gifted other awesome items by other customers lately. That's why I always say that I truly am blessed to do what I do and have the best customers. If you are reading this, thank you for your support and patronage. I truly appreciate you.
