A fun before and after. This truck had an easy life before and an easy life ahead. It’s spent its whole life getting groceries and running to the post office from a dirt road. The previous owner being 93 was no longer able to get in or out of it, hence the tiny tires. She’ll slowly get cleaned up and repaired through winter… Just to end up as a Sunday beach cruiser. It doesn’t look or sound like much but to me, that’s a big part of its charm. Just looking at it gives me weekend chill vibes 🙂‍↕️

The above mentioned is my 1996 Ford Bronco XLT. Powered by a healthy, reliable ol’ 5.0 and presented in Tobago Green. Some might argue it’s Calypso Green, and I would mostly agree because I still can’t tell the difference. Either color is blast from the past and shouted you were living wild and free in the 90’s.

Super excited to snag this unit. Been on the hunt for quite some time waiting for the right deal. If I’m honest, it wasn’t the best deal… but… the seller was a stand up guy and was transparent. I love an honest seller.

I do have a little bit of work to do before it’s mounted to the flatbed. It does need gaskets here and there. She’s leaking a tad of oil and the exhaust is leaking right at the head. Even so, she powers the house perfectly and welds

Up next, repairs!

Continuing with the madness. I’ve honestly never seen an engine so close to failure with virtually no audible warning signs. This should be all the proof you need to not use cheap ass oil filters and junk oil. Also, don’t let people talk you into just throwing a used motor in anything. Take your time and look through it. This engine ran and sounded great.

The seller mentioned this was recently rebuilt. I don’t doubt that considering the ease in which the timing cover was removed. motors are notorious for broken and seized bolts on the front of the motor. Either that or the small block gods have me in their favor 😜.

Now this was supposed to be a budget build. That’s now no longer an option 😅. She’s getting punched out from a to a . Not the biggest fan of strokers as I prefer the peppiness of a square or undersquare engine. This will be new for me so I’m looking forward to it. Next post will be to and from the machine shop.

It doesn’t get much cleaner than this. Holler at me, I’ve got slots open all March long. It’s ain’t too late to start the new year off right. 💯

It feels like Monday…

German A/C is my favorite ac. Everything is so simple yet well made.

I swapped this car about 11 years ago. The swap is still running strong to this day. It came back to me to repair the ac. High on the compression side and low on the vacuum side I knew exactly where to start. This ac was repaired previously by someone that rushed the job. I took my time getting the evap core and expansion valve out and to no surprise the the return O-ring was pinched.

New evap, orings, expansion valve, and receiver/dryer and this thing is holding 30in with no leaks. I’ll let it sit for a few hours and check back with the cold temps in a bit. I love these old BMW’s.

So I’m still alive. I’ve spent the past few months gathering myself and trying to transition into a new personal space. I look forward to sharing my work with you guys as I get back to doing what I love. Old pickups is where I started, happy to be here.
