You are not “too sensitive,” and your experience is not automatically imaginary. Sometimes the body remembers what the mind cannot easily explain.

When your mind won’t quiet down, pause here. 🌿
Try this: name 3 things you can see, 2 things you can feel, and 1 thing you can hear. It’s a simple way to help your nervous system feel a little safer, a little steadier.
If anxiety or heavy feelings are hanging around, you do not have to carry them alone. 💚

Need a calm pause in your day? 🌸
Try this simple grounding reset: sip something warm, name 3 things you can see, and take 5 slow breaths. Small moments like this can help your nervous system feel a little safer.

Some notes stay in the heart. ✨
Today’s reminder is that healing does not always begin with perfect words. Sometimes it starts with a quiet page, a warm cup of tea, and the courage to tell the truth about what has been heavy.
At Amyris Counseling & Wellness, I hold space for anxiety, depression, trauma, and those hard-to-explain experiences that can leave you feeling alone. No judgment, no pressure, just support.
If you’ve been carrying more than you can name, I’d be honored to help. Visit www.amyriscounseling.com or call (346) 202-4825 to schedule a free consultation. 💚

Happy Tuesday, friends! 🌵
Four days until I head to Flagstaff, Arizona for CreepyCon on October 10th!
After an incredible time at San Antonio Paranormal Fest last month, I'm bringing the "Spooky but Safe" framework to a whole new audience. Here's what I'll be sharing:
💚 How trauma-informed therapy creates space for unexplained experiences without crossing into investigation, affirmation, or debunking
💚 Why grounding, EMDR, and EFT/tapping are effective tools for nervous-system regulation after distressing events
💚 What "paranormal trauma" actually means clinically — and how it differs from anxiety, PTSD, or sleep disorders
💚 The importance of boundaries in this work: my job is to support your safety and functioning, not to chase ghosts (40+ years of investigation experience taught me exactly where that line is!)
One of my favorite things about speaking at these events is the conversations that happen AFTER the talk. So please come say hi — whether you're a fellow therapist curious about this niche, someone who's been carrying an experience you've been afraid to share, or just someone who appreciates a calm, grounded approach to the spooky stuff.
📌 Want to connect before or after the event?

**Signs you might be experiencing paranormal trauma** 👻
Not every scary experience becomes trauma. But some do, and the signs can be easy to miss, especially when no one around you is talking about it.
Here is what I see most often in my work at Amyris Counseling & Wellness:
💜 **Physical signs:**
• Chills, goosebumps, or shivers that come without explanation
• Nausea or stomach discomfort in certain spaces
• Sleep disruption, especially fear of your bedroom or the dark
• Jumpiness or a startle response that feels stuck on "high"
💜 **Emotional signs:**
• Anxiety that spikes when you think about what happened
• A sense of dread you cannot name or locate
• Feeling "on guard" in your own home
• Avoidance of certain rooms, objects, or conversations
💜 **Cognitive signs:**
• Replaying the experience, trying to make sense of it
• Doubting your own memory or perception
• Feeling like no one would believe you if you told them
If you are nodding along, you are not alone, and you are not making it up. Your nervous system is responding to something it experienced as a threat. That response is real, and it is treatable.
At Amyris Counseling & Wellness, I use EMDR, EFT, and grounding work to help your body find its way back to safety. No holy water required. ✨
