A palm roll isn’t just about a neat appearance—it’s about maintaining healthy roots and allowing your locs to mature naturally.

I intentionally put my own locs through real-world stress—tight buns, heavy styling, and basic palm rolling—to experience what my clients deal with.
Yesterday, that old tension caught up, and a loc shed naturally. In this specific situation, I am letting it go instead of reattaching it.
The Reality of Loc Care:
Unrefined Palm Rolling: Over-twisting thins the core of the loc over time.
Styling Stress: Tight styles put constant strain on weak points until they break.
Situational Reattachment: Reattaching locs is a valid, healthy solution depending on loc size and scalp support. However, forcing reattachment on a severely compromised foundation will only pull on surrounding hair.
I am officially entering loc rehabilitation. True health always dictates whether we repair or let go.

For his 11:45 AM appointment, after completing the single-needle work wet, I put him directly under the hood dryer. My standard is non-negotiable: no client leaves with damp locs or unresolved tension. He walked out 100% dry, comfortable, and structurally secure.
