Let’s talk about spironolactone and your skin because this is a conversation we are not having enough. 🤍

Spiro is commonly prescribed for hormonal acne and while it CAN be effective - it completely depletes your skin’s oil production.

That means if your skin is already dehydrated and you are not actively supporting your barrier, everything is going to burn, feel tight, and feel irritated. Your skin is basically suffocating and throwing more products at it is not the answer.

At TRU we take a full picture approach. Before we recommend anything we want to know your lifestyle, your budget, how many steps you are actually willing to do, and what kind of downtime you can handle. Because handing someone who was on spiro a 12 step routine and sending them on their way is not care, that’s just a waste of your money and your time.

We also require every esthetician at TRU to sit in with our functional medicine practitioner at Integrative Healthcare of Huntsville and understand bloodwork and hormones because your skin and your health are not separate conversations. They are the same one.
