So I saw a video a few weeks ago where a young lady CORRECTLY displayed interlocking for free to ppl and there were ppl telling her she did it wrong. I saw you aren't supposed to see the split. End it from the side so the split won't show, etc. so when I did a repair session I decided to incorrectly interlock one for educational purposes then fixed it after.

So what you see here is left and incorrect rotation that created a very defined Y and right a correct rotation. The left is created by going through the same entry point multiple times back to back. The right is one final pass through from 12 o'clock. See the difference in the Y? When it comes to where you end your rotation the only way you shouldn't end it is from 6 o'clock. A rotation can indeed end from 12/3/9 as long as you go straight through from one point to the next. Now chill with all of the misinformation. I gave you a side by side visual so you are aware of the diff.

Extra info a retie doesn't have to be extra tight. If you can't do that final pass through w/o the lock folding under itself or extra tension at the scalp then END THE ROTATION! It's 2026 we should not be out here contributing to tension alopecia. Your client's scalp should not be hurting or itching after a retie!
