Your baby feeds well on one side. On the other, they latch, pull away, and start all over again.
Sometimes the difference is in the neck. If turning the head one way is uncomfortable, it can be harder to settle into that feeding position and keep a deep latch. When the seal keeps breaking, your baby may swallow more air—and the feed can end with fussiness and gas.
It affects mom, too. If the baby feeds less effectively on that side, the breast may remain uncomfortably full.
And if your baby prefers the same head position outside of feeding, that’s worth checking as well. A persistent preference can be associated with torticollis and a flat spot developing on one side of the head.
That’s why, when a parent says, “My baby only likes one breast,” I look at how the baby moves their neck—not just what happens at the breast.

Why does your neck loosen up after stretching—then tighten again?
Sometimes the neck is doing extra work because the upper back and shoulders aren’t moving freely. Pulling harder on the tight area may bring temporary relief, but it doesn’t always change the pattern.
Try this quick comparison:
Sit comfortably and slowly turn your head in each direction. Don’t force it. Notice which side feels more limited.
Return to the center. Take three slow breaths, allowing your upper ribs to expand.
Make five slow shoulder rolls. Then gently reach both arms forward and let your upper back widen.
Turn your head again and compare. Don’t ask, “How far can I push?” Ask, “Does this feel easier?”
If the movement changes, your neck may be responding to what is happening below it. If nothing changes, don’t keep pulling harder.
This is why I check the base of the skull, upper back, and shoulders—and then repeat the same movement. The comparison tells me whether I’m working in the right direction.
Keep every movement gentle and comfortable. Stop if you feel dizziness, sharp pain, numbness, or weakness.

Ever had to turn your whole body just to reach behind you?
When your shoulder hurts, you start finding ways around the movement. You lift the whole shoulder, twist your torso, or stop just before the painful part. Eventually, even getting dressed can feel difficult.
The muscles and other tissues around the shoulder can tighten up too. Sensitive trigger points may add pain, while the shoulder blade moves less freely. That can make an already stiff shoulder feel even more stuck—including when someone has frozen shoulder.
This is why I work gently. Small movements and careful mobilization give me a way to work with the restriction without forcing the arm through pain. Then I check the movement again to see what actually changed.
If your shoulder has been limiting everyday life, let’s take a closer look. 💜

His shoulder hurt in the front, so why was I working under his shoulder blade? 👀
It may look unusual to work away from the spot that hurts. In this session, I was checking how tension around and below the shoulder blade affected the movement of his arm.
Then I asked him to lift it again. He said it felt a bit better and confirmed that he could raise it higher. That feedback helps me see whether the work is moving us in the right direction and decide what to focus on next.
If shoulder discomfort is making everyday movements harder, you’re welcome to book a session with me 💜

Neck always tight? Wondering what the strap is for?
Here, I’m supporting the head and using gentle traction — a slow, controlled stretch, with no sudden pulling. The strap helps me guide the movement while I adjust the pressure to the person’s comfort.
The goal is to help the neck relax. This is one part of the hands-on work I tailor to each person.

Do you ever feel like one side of your body sits higher—or one leg feels shorter than the other?
After one 50-minute session, his shoulders appeared more level, his waistline looked more even, and his body was positioned closer to the vertical axis.
But the first thing he noticed was:
“My left leg feels longer.”
The leg didn’t physically become longer. When tension and weight distribution change, the body may feel—and organize itself—differently.
This is a real before-and-after, not a claim that posture or scoliosis was “fixed” in one session.
If your body feels uneven, restricted, or out of balance, let’s take a closer look.

Same treatment. Two very different tissue responses.
He came in with pain between his right shoulder blade and spine. When I worked both sides, the right side reacted much more strongly—and the tissues there had noticeably less glide.
After releasing the restricted area, we tested the movement again.
“More freedom?”
“Feels lighter?”
His reaction says the rest.

Does your baby always turn their head to the same side?
This preference may be connected with tension through the neck and upper chest—and over time, you may also notice changes in head shape.
In this session, I’m using very gentle bodywork to help release tension and support more comfortable movement.

Shoulder pain when lifting your arm?
The shoulder doesn’t move alone. The shoulder blade, upper back, rib cage, and neck all contribute to how freely your arm moves.
That’s why I don’t focus only on the spot where the pain is felt. I look at the movement as a whole and work with the restrictions I find.

Limited shoulder movement doesn’t always mean you should only focus on the shoulder.
I look at how the whole area moves, work with what feels restricted, and then retest.
Sometimes the change speaks for itself.
