1. Kinda chic to read captions in Rob Schneider‘s voice. ✨
2. Still dreaming about the tomato’s at othello and eating a tomato sandwich a day, heavy on the dukes and cracked pepper on potato bread.
3. Because your skin is the largest organ and your first line of defense. Thats why the products I carry treat your entire body with the same care and attention your face gets.
4. Catch me every Tuesday morning on the back porch giving Rye 🐈⬛ some love with a white bean avocado sandwhich on rosemary garlic or the occasional quiche 🥖 ☕️
5.It will literally change your entire body. Texture, hydration, all of it. I’ve dealt with eczema my entire life and moisturizing with a body oil, especially Fur Oil since it doesn’t stain and absorbs so quickly, keeps it at bay and my skin hydrated.
6. You know who you are and don’t you dare stop. Show me your chickens, art, sweet tweats and I’ll never tell you no.
7. Because shame isn’t allowed in my studio. Perennial skin is just as important as your bikini line and we all grew up in a generation that didn’t get taught how to manage p***c hair, ingrown hairs, hemorrhoids, fissures, post-partum changes, hormonal changes, perimenopause, etc. Ask the question that you’re too afraid or ashamed to ask, if I don’t know the answer I bet you I know a professional that does.
8. I still will always say work for someone else after you complete schooling, but never stay in a toxic work place. I made the mistake for staying for years in a place that grinded my confidence and mental health down and convinced me I would never be successful on my own or anywhere else. Boy howdy, they were so so wrong.
9. It didn’t happen over night but building the ideal life for me and my goals of traveling, enjoying my home life, actually having hobbies, spending time with my friends and family, etc. is my priority everyday and much more obtainable than people make it out to be.
My senior year in high school we had to present our post-graduation plans. I did my entire presentation on how I wanted to go to beauty school and my parents told me that wasn’t a job, that it was a hobby and that I would never be financial independent or successful. I spent almost
The day I signed my Sola suite lease I was equal parts excited and completely terrified. Nobody warned me about these five things. 👇🏼
SAVE THIS if you’re thinking about going solo, already in a suite, or still trying to figure out if it’s even the right move. These are the things I genuinely wish someone had told me before I made the leap.
1️⃣ Your income doesn’t just “figure itself out.” Having a booth at a salon where clients are already walking in is very different from running your own space. Nobody is handing you a client list. You have to build it — actively, consistently, and from day one. Social media, word of mouth, booking systems, text reminders — it’s a business now, not just a service.
2️⃣ You will undercharge yourself out of business if you let guilt run your pricing. I see this constantly. Your prices have to cover your supplies, your rent, your time, your taxes, your insurance, and your slow months. Charge what your work is worth. The clients who are right for you won’t flinch.
3️⃣ The loneliness is real — and it matters. I didn’t expect to miss my coworkers as much as I did. Building a community — whether it’s through industry connections, mentors, or even just other suite owners in your building it’s crucial.
4️⃣ Your suite doesn’t market itself. Even if it’s beautiful. Even if your work is perfect. Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Google, your booking link — these are not optional when you’re on your own. Visibility is survival.
5️⃣ Having a mentor earlier would have saved me years. Trial and error costs time and money. Having someone who’s already done it — who can tell you what platforms to use, how to build your book, what to charge, and how to handle the slow months — is invaluable. I didn’t have that. I’m building something now so others do in the future so stay tuned.
