I’m wearing this ✨wonderful✨handmade necklace with a heavy heart today.
When you sit with someone every four weeks for over a decade, you can’t help but to feel their loss so deeply. The Hairstylist window was wide open with Carrol. I didn’t just get to peek into her life. She fully brought me in and made me feel seen and loved.
She has been with me from the beginning of my career, cheering me on and inspiring me the entire time.
She was outspoken, and classy and so kind. She loved God and the way she talked about her loved ones was admirable. There was never one appointment that she didn’t talk about how ✨wonderful✨ her husband was and how deeply she loved him. It definitely encouraged me to look for the beautiful things about my life, and stop focusing on the hard parts as much.
She loved her family big, with that big Texan heart was it obvious how incredibly hard that woman loved her people.
She always wanted to know everything about my babies and the good parts of my life and her response was always the same…”Oh! That’s wonderful, I’m so happy for you” and it was genuine happiness.🥹🥰 we ended every service with a big hug, we would pull each in and Carrol would tell me how grateful she was for me.
I could never tell her no, even when she would talk me into cutting her hair off(knowing full well we would be growing it right back out the next time)
And when she told me I’d be doing her funeral hair for the last 8 years because “No one can do it like you” …I already knew I couldn’t say no.
So today I get to honor her life and do her hair one last time. It’s definitely not just hair.

When your mom is a hairstylist, and neglects your hair and you are walking around with a very overdue haircut. 💀🤷🏼‍♀️🤣
Better late than never.
