I had to send a little bit of New Orleans to New Hampshire with my daughter and her family as they settle into their new home ❤️

If you do not show up for a booked appointment or do not notify me 24 hours before your appointment that you need to cancel there will be a $25 no show/cancellation fee.

I will be strictly enforcing this policy. All of our time is extremely valuable and when someone does not show up for their appointment it creates a costly gap in my schedule.

I wanted to give a little perspective on why I have had to make the hard decision to do a slight price increase. It’s not to give myself a raise although wouldn’t that be wonderful. I must do it because I am making less money and working longer hours than ever before. The cost of doing business for me has gone up so much in the last several years. It’s at the point if I don’t make some changes in my pricing (which by the way is much lower than most of the stylist in my building alone) not to mention the 30 years of experience I have. I so t be able to afford to stay in business.
All of my supply prices have gone up at the fastest rate I have seen since I have been a hairstylist and salon owner.
I have had a rent increase every year I have been in the My Salon Suites.
Not to mention my color had tripled in price since I began using it.
When I have to have my shears sharpened it is $50 a pair. A new pair range from $500-$1000 depending on what I need.

So I wanted to share a post with y’all from another stylist which I think explains things pretty well.

Lately I see a lot of posts about hairdressers “ out pricing themselves .” so Incase anyone is wondering why the price of getting your hair done is so high , This is the price of a hair cutting comb these days . How many combs would you say I need a day to make it through one 10-12 hour regular day at the salon ? Ontop of that, the price of products we keep on hand to “ style it the way you can never duplicate .“ If this is the price of a comb does anyone want to take a lucky guess on the price to keep a fully stocked color bar ? Because we can’t just keep your *usual color * on hand when many people ( rightfully so ) decide at their appointment they wanna change it up . This isn’t about out pricing ourselves ladies and gents . This is about keeping our integrity & quality + staying afloat ourselves . Sure I can use a cheaper comb . Sure I can use cheaper hair products. But the outcome and quality will not be the same . and as you see in most industries and restaurants that stands true . So this isn’t about out pricing ourselves because of our worth . It’s about paying $10 a freaking comb to even perform a haircut properly . And Incase anyone is wondering this same comb was $2.50 when I started doing hair and about $4.50 a year ago .

Just a little reminder I will be away from the salon from December 27th-January 23rd. My first couple of weeks back I will be working very limited hours. Services available will also be limited. I am having a total knee replacement on December 27th.
