I use to think my massages maybe had a placebo effect… I work your horse, in your mind they perform better, so your run is better.
Until… my best friend had me work on her 12 year old daughter’s barrel horse before a run, and he then went on to shave off over a second.
There is something to a positive change in performance from massage.
Massage works! ☺️

If your horse isn’t accelerating like they used to, tight glute muscles could be part of the reason.

The glutes are a major source of power!
Think.
Driving forward
Exploding out of turns
Sprinting
Pushing from the hind end

When these muscles become tight or sore, your horse may feel slower to respond, struggle to build speed, or simply lack the power they normally have.

If your horse feels like they’re working harder but getting less out of each stride, it may be time to check in on their muscles.
