Words fall short. Understated in grief.
And sharing this feels…insignificant? Because Julie was so much more than a post or even her diagnosis, but her memory still deserves to have a permanent spot here. She was one of a kind.
Bright, firey and optimistic.
I’m so grateful for our little pockets of time in the chair amongst all her battling and fighting, we got moments of simply being girls enjoying a beauty service together.
Thankful for our years of connection, and getting to see her again only a few months ago…to be able to hug her tightly. I’ll miss you, Julie. Thank you for sharing your magnetic self with me while you were here. 🩷

Fun fact: I gave myself a panic attack before the very first class I ever hosted.
Swear. 🫠
Because I was confident at being a good artist, but that didn’t automatically make me a good educator.
I had to learn how to teach- how to explain things I had started doing intuitively, how to break down technique clearly, and how to communicate in a way that actually helps someone else apply it to their own work.
That has been its own skill to develop, separate from the artistry itself.
So receiving feedback like this is everything.
It’s a reminder that the work I’ve put into becoming a better educator is translating, and that I’m doing what I set out to do: help other artists move the needle forward in their own work. 🤍
