Today’s weather was perfection and it was one of those market days that over filled my cup. 🤍

To everyone who came out to support me at the Downtown Lake Wales Community Market today, THANK YOU!

And I have to give a special little shoutout to my Facebook & Instagram followers who stopped by my booth. 🥹💕 Getting to catch up, chat a bit, and hear that you’ve been following along here meant more to me than you probably realized.

Sometimes social media can feel like I’m just talking to my phone 😂, so moments like today are such a sweet reminder that there are real people on the other side of these posts, following along, cheering me on, and continuing to show up for my little business.

Thank you for shopping, stopping to say hello, sharing a laugh, and choosing to support RCDCessentials. Whether you purchased something or simply stopped by to catch up, I appreciated every bit of it.

Okay, we need to talk though. 📖🍂

I know this page is usually soap, suds, and all things RCDC… but today I’m switching it up a little because I CANNOT keep this one to myself.

Book #38 since I started my audiobook challenge 20 weeks ago. I listen while I’m working in the workshop, and honestly? These have probably been some of my most productive 20 weeks yet. 😆 Something about getting lost in a story keeps me locked in and off my phone, no doomscrolling, just hands busy and mind somewhere else entirely.

And this one, “28 Summers” by Elin Hilderbrand, has me in a full on chokehold. I don’t want to stop listening. I also don’t want it to end. Both things are true at once and I’m not okay.

Quick, spoiler-free review: it’s the story of two people who keep finding their way back to each other, one summer at a time, over the course of nearly three decades, even though life (and love, and choices) keeps pulling them in different directions. It’s emotional, it’s a slow burn, and it will absolutely wreck you in the best way. I’m not saying more than that because y’all need to experience this one for yourselves, if you haven’t already!

Is there really a better way to close out summer than getting swept up in the best book of the whole challenge, on literally the first day of fall? I think not.

How did the nastiest smelling soap I ever made become one of my BEST SELLERS? 😩😂

Let me take you back…

My Rose Clay & Tea Tree Face Soap was never actually meant to be sold.

I originally formulated this bar for myself. At the time, I wasn’t concerned with making it pretty or making it smell amazing. I was focused on the ingredients I wanted in a facial bar, so I loaded it with rose clay, activated charcoal, tea tree essential oil, colloidal oatmeal, goat’s milk, coconut milk, honey, shea butter and even real silk.

Then one day at the farmers market, a customer approached me looking for something for her son’s skin.

I explained that I couldn’t make medical claims about what a soap could do, but I could tell her exactly what was in the bar and let her research those ingredients for herself.

And that little conversation changed everything.

What started as a soap I made for me, with absolutely ZERO intentions of ever selling it, eventually found its way onto my table… and somehow became one of the soaps you guys keep coming back for. 🤯

All these years later, I’m still making it.

Still not trying to make it smell like a bouquet of roses. 😂
Still packing it with the ingredients that made me formulate it in the first place.
And still amazed that my “nasty smelling little soap” became a RCDCessentials favorite.

Juicy watermelon, fresh honeydew and just a little sugary sweetness. It smells like cutting into an ice-cold watermelon on a hot summer afternoon and getting that first sweet, juicy bite.

So yes, my fall candles are coming. 🍂
Yes, I’m excited about them.

But apparently a small part of me is still standing in summer saying, “Y’all go ahead… I’ll catch up.” 😂🍉

It starts with that First Sip of Fall… when the air feels a little different, the spices come out, and you just know your favorite season is on its way. ☕️🍎

Then you walk through the door and Something’s Baking… warm, sweet, pumpkiny goodness filling the house. 🥞

You change into something comfortable, settle in and Fall Into Cozy… soft cashmere, sandalwood and vanilla wrapping around the room. 🤎

And when the sun finally disappears?

It’s Autumn After Dark… warm spices, woods, pine and fallen leaves setting the mood for a crisp fall evening. 🍁🌙

I swear I didn’t plan the names this way. 😂
But somewhere between choosing the fragrances and naming them, these four candles stopped being individual scents and started telling a story.
