Your curls don’t always need another product added to the routine.

Sometimes they need a little less buildup and a little more hydration.

Healthy-looking curls aren’t just about what you put on them ~ it’s about understanding what your hair is actually asking for.

Beautiful curls. Beyond wash day.

Sometimes when our curls aren’t behaving the way we want, our first instinct is to add something.

More leave-in.

More cream.

More gel.

More oil.

But more isn’t always better.

If your hair is feeling heavy, coated, dull, less defined, or your usual products suddenly aren’t working the way they used to, it’s worth considering what’s already on the hair.

Buildup could be part of the picture.

But so could your haircut, styling technique, product selection, or even your environment.

Before adding another layer, get curious about what’s actually happening.

Your curls are giving you information.

The goal is learning how to read it. 🌿

Beautiful curls. Beyond wash day. 🌿

One of the things I love most about curly hair is that the journey doesn’t end when wash day is over.

The real question is often:

How do I keep this going?

Because day two, three, or four can look very different from that fresh-out-of-the-salon moment.

That’s something I’ve been thinking about while developing something new for Justice Rivera Haircare:

✨ The Curl Revive Refresher ✨

I’m currently finalizing the formula with those between-wash moments in mind.

You know those days when your curls don’t need a complete wash ~ but they could use a little help coming back to life?

That’s the space I’m exploring.

And I’m taking my time with it.

Because I don’t want to create another product just because I can.

I want to create something because it serves a purpose.

More to come as the formula gets closer. 👀

In the meantime, pay attention to your own curls this week.

What do your curls need between wash days?

What makes curls last beyond wash day? 👀

Beautiful curls on wash day are one thing. Keeping that definition, shape, and softness going for the days that follow is another.

And it isn’t always about adding more product.

How long your curls last can be influenced by things like:
• how your hair is cleansed and conditioned
• the products you use and how they’re layered
• how much hold your styling products provide
• how your hair is dried
• how you protect your curls while you sleep
• and even whether your current shape still supports the way you want your curls to wear

Sometimes the issue isn’t that your curls can’t last. It’s that one part of the routine isn’t supporting longevity.

What do you find yourself struggling with most: definition, volume, frizz, or getting your curls to last beyond day one?

Your curls looking amazing on wash day ~ and falling flat afterward doesn’t necessarily mean your entire routine is wrong.

There are several things that can affect curl longevity:

✨ Styling support
✨ Buildup
✨ Haircut/shape
✨ Drying technique
✨ Environment
✨ Between-wash maintenance

The key is figuring out which one is affecting YOUR curls.

Because the solution depends on the problem.

That’s what we’re exploring in this week’s The Curl Edit. 🌿

Your shampoo does more than clean your hair.

It sets the foundation for everything that comes next.

If your curls feel coated, dry, dull, or like your products aren’t performing the way they used to, your cleansing routine may be worth a closer look.

And here’s the thing:

Clean doesn’t have to mean stripped.

A thoughtful cleansing routine should help remove buildup and residue while supporting the overall health and feel of your curls.

This week’s The Curl Edit goes deeper into what your cleanser should actually be doing ~ and how to recognize when your routine may need a reset.

Before you buy a new leave-in conditioner, try changing one thing:

Apply your current leave-in to soaking-wet hair. 💧

Curly hair often responds differently when products are applied while the hair is still fully saturated.

And remember:

More product doesn’t always mean more moisture.

Sometimes the product isn’t the problem.

Sometimes it’s the technique.

This week’s The Curl Edit goes deeper into why your leave-in may not be giving you the results you expect ~ and what you can try before replacing your entire routine.

Have you been applying your leave-in to damp hair or soaking-wet hair?

Your leave-in conditioner may not be the problem. 👀

Before you replace your favorite product, take a look at how you’re using it.

Your results can be affected by:

✨ How wet your hair is when you apply product
✨ How much product you’re using
✨ Product buildup
✨ How your products layer together
✨ Changes in your hair or environment

This week, try applying your leave-in conditioner to soaking-wet hair and using a little less product than usual.

Sometimes your curls don’t need a new product.

They need a small adjustment.

I break down all 5 common reasons your leave-in may not be working in this week’s edition of The Curl Edit.
