Happy 4th of July!!!!

Today we celebrate more than fireworks, parades, and backyard barbecues. We celebrate the enduring idea that people from different backgrounds, beliefs, and walks of life can share one nation and one hope for the future.
America turns 250 years old, and while our history has never been perfect, it has always been a story of striving—of ordinary people believing tomorrow can be better than today.
Somewhere along the way, we’ve become quick to judge, quick to argue, and slow to listen. We’ve let labels replace conversations and assumptions replace understanding. Yet the strongest communities aren’t built by people who agree on everything. They’re built by people who choose to respect one another even when they don’t.
This Independence Day, I hope we all take a moment to remember that freedom isn’t just the right to speak—it’s also the willingness to listen. To seek understanding before demanding to be understood. To show grace before criticism. To see the person before the opinion.
We don’t have to think alike to care about one another. We don’t have to vote alike to love our neighbors. We don’t have to share every belief to share the same table, the same town, and the same dream that the next generation inherits something better than we did.
Unity doesn’t mean uniformity. It means choosing kindness over contempt, conversation over conflict, and compassion over division.
So today, as the skies fill with fireworks, may our hearts be filled with gratitude—for the freedoms we’ve been given, for those who sacrificed to protect them, and for the opportunity each of us has to make this country a little stronger through the way we treat one another.
Let’s celebrate not only the land of the free, but the people who make it home.
