Our salon family is mourning the loss of our friend, neighbor, and landlord, Robin Mosely, who passed away on Tuesday after his courageous battle with cancer.
I first opened my salon in 2013 at a different location. In 2018, I went to Robin and asked if I could move my salon into one of his open spaces. Without hesitation, he said yes. He welcomed us onto his property, believed in our business, and helped create the beautiful space we work in today. Robin was the kind of landlord every small business hopes for: responsive, supportive, and truly invested in seeing the people around him succeed.
Robin was not only a friend, but also a respected businessman in our community. He helped establish RC Contractors and served as its CFO alongside his business partner, Chris Klingler. What is now a well-known contracting company began humbly in 1995 as the two of them working side by side, growing the business through hard work, integrity, and dedication to serving others.
But Robin was so much more than a landlord or a businessman. He was a close family friend for many years, woven into our lives through friendship, faith, and even a bit of “shirttail” family connection. He was a pillar in our community, steady, hardworking, and always willing to step in and help.
Through his painting and contracting business, Robin poured into the next generation. He had a true heart for mentoring young men, many from our church and many from outside of it as well. He taught practical skills and strong work ethic, but just as importantly, he encouraged them personally and spiritually. He wanted young men to know they were valued and that God had a purpose for their lives.
Robin was never shy about sharing his faith. If you ever spoke with him, you know he loved to talk, especially about the gospel and the love of Jesus Christ. He also had a big love for Michigan State basketball, time on the golf course, and his grandchildren, and he could chat happily about any of those things for as long as you’d listen.
We will miss Robin deeply, both professionally and personally. Our hearts and prayers are with his family and all who loved him. We are grateful for his life, his example, and the legacy he leaves in this community he worked so hard to build and support.
Rest in peace, Robin. You will be greatly missed.
