Our hearts have been broken watching the devastation from the flood in Nepal and Tibet over the past week. Our family is safely out of the way, but the larger Himalayan community is at the epicenter of a shifting Third Pole. The world’s largest mountains and water resources are in a fragile balance- one that we have just witnessed in collapse. Being here and watching from afar feels helpless, but we are dreaming of a way any of us can help meet basic needs of those displaced. We are vowing to send 10% of all profits in September to World Central Kitchen in delivering food to those in the center of the devastation.

My annual rebirth through fire, 🔥 such an honor each year to tend the dragon that is the traditional Japanese Anagama kiln right here at KU with a group of incredible potters. The truest prayer- months of making work, chopping wood, loading, stoking, unloading and dreaming together as one big fire family. And from the ashes, so many beautiful vessels emerged…
Our little front shop has handfuls of things I make and fire, some from this year’s anagama firing and some from other soda and gas firings. What true elemental magic medicine it is!! 🔥 🏺

An absolutely stunning cosmic show here at Jalu last night 🌌 though it’s harder to see with the naked eye, the skies danced here for us…what a magical thing to behold ✨ nighttime rainbow!
