I stopped using steam in my treatment room and I’m not sorry about it. Steam has been a facial staple forever, but “we’ve always done it this way” isn’t enough of a reason for me to keep doing something.

Steam can increase heat and inflammation in the skin, which is the last thing I want for my sensitive, rosacea, or inflamed acne clients. And unless steam equipment is being cleaned and maintained properly, that warm, moist environment can become a hygiene concern too. I’d rather soften the skin, prep for extractions, and customize your facial in ways that actually make sense for your skin.

So no, your facial with me probably won’t include the classic cloud of steam.

Your skin will survive. I promise.
