✨ WHY DOES MY BLONDE KEEP TURNING BRASSY? ✨

You leave the salon with the perfect bright, creamy blonde, and a few weeks later you start noticing yellow, gold, or even orange tones showing back up.

Before you blame your toner, let’s talk about what may actually be happening.

💧 HARD WATER CAN CHANGE YOUR BLONDE

Hard water contains minerals that can build up on the hair over time. Calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, and other deposits can attach themselves to the hair and affect the way your blonde looks and feels.

And yes, this can still happen even if you have a water softener.

A traditional water softener mainly works by exchanging hardness minerals such as calcium and magnesium. It does not necessarily remove everything that may be present in your water, including iron, copper, chlorine, sediment, and other impurities.

That buildup can make blonde hair look dull, yellow, orange, darker, or less bright than it did when you left the salon.

🚿 INVEST IN A SHOWERHEAD FILTER

This can be a game changer for blondes.

Depending on the type of filter, it may help reduce chlorine, sediment, and certain metals or impurities before they ever reach your hair.

It is one of the easiest things you can do at home to help protect your color between appointments.

💜 PURPLE SHAMPOO IS NOT ALWAYS THE ANSWER

Purple shampoo has its place, but it is still a shampoo with toning pigment added to it.

That means you are trying to tone your blonde while also cleansing it.

Even a very high quality purple shampoo can leave lightened ends feeling dry if it is used too often.

After what I have seen behind the chair, I would much rather see most blondes use a conditioning purple toner, toning conditioner, or toning mask when they need to neutralize yellow.

If your blonde is pulling more orange than yellow, a blue toning conditioner or mask may be a better option.

You get the toning benefit while giving your hair moisture and conditioning at the same time.

🫧 CLARIFYING SHAMPOO OR DETOX SHAMPOO?

For lightened and toned hair, I am very cautious with traditional clarifying shampoos.

Many clarifying formulas can be too aggressive for blonde hair, especially when used frequently. They can fade or strip toner and leave already lightened hair feeling rough, dry, or straw like.

I prefer a detox or mineral removing shampoo that is designed to help remove buildup without unnecessarily stressing the hair.

And this part is important.

Focus your shampoo on your scalp and root area.

Your scalp is where the oil, sweat, product buildup, and dry shampoo collect.

Your blonde ends do not need to be scrubbed every time you wash.

Let the shampoo and water gently run through your ends as you rinse.

Repeatedly shampooing fragile blonde ends can contribute to dryness, breakage, and split ends.

✨ DO NOT FORGET PROFESSIONAL HARD WATER TREATMENTS

If hard water is an issue for you, consider adding a professional mineral or hard water treatment to your salon routine.

For many clients, having this done about once a month can help remove mineral buildup, restore brightness, improve the feel of the hair, and help your blonde stay looking cleaner and fresher between appointments.

Beautiful blonde hair is not only about what happens during your salon appointment.

What you do at home matters just as much.

🚨 DON’T LET AI HAIR PHOTOS FOOL YOU 🚨

With AI-generated images becoming more realistic, it’s getting harder to tell whether the gorgeous hair you’re seeing online is actually real.

Before trusting a photo, look a little closer. 👀

✨ How to spot possible AI-generated hair photos:

• Hair that looks too perfect. Every strand is smooth, shiny, and perfectly placed with almost no natural variation, no clipper marks or perfect fading.

• Repeated curl or wave patterns. Real hair has variation. AI may create curls that look copied and pasted.

• Strange hairlines or parts . Look closely around the scalp, forehead, ears, and edges. AI can make hair blend unnaturally into the skin.

• Unrealistic thickness from root to ends, real hair usually has some natural tapering and movement.

•🚨One thing I notice a lot in AI-generated hair photos is the texture of the hair itself. Instead of looking like thousands of individual, natural strands, AI hair can sometimes look straw-like, stiff, or almost like tiny strips layered on top of each other.

Look closely and you may notice:

• Pieces of hair that look stacked instead of naturally blended
• Sections that resemble ribbons, straw, feathers, or little overlapping layers
• Strands that seem to melt into one another
• Hair flowing in directions that don’t make sense
• Curls or waves that look stamped or repeated
• An almost “painted-on” texture instead of real individual strands

Real hair has randomness. Some strands cross over each other, some separate, some catch the light differently, and the ends aren’t all identical.

AI often tries to recreate that detail, but when you zoom in, the hair can start looking like layers of texture sitting on top of each other instead of actual hair growing and flowing naturally.

That doesn’t mean every perfect looking hair photo is AI, but it’s definitely something to pay attention to before believing everything you see online. 👀

• Everything looks overly flawless... perfect lighting, perfect texture, perfect density, perfect model…sometimes perfection itself is the red flag.

Beautiful pictures can sell a product.

But real, unedited hair should be able to speak for itself. 🤍
