Can I be honest?

I suck at pretending.

I’m a person who feels deeply and intensely, and right now the world is on fire. Lately, my heart hurts more than it doesn’t.

The only thing that seems to get my mind off things is creating. When I’m shooting it’s like I hit a flow state, and for an hour or so the outside world disappears. How privileged am I that I get to escape?

In the world of social media, content is occasionally planned and scheduled. I used to try doing this. Then, I can’t remember what ghastly world event had just happened, but I do remember that a scheduled post went live shortly after, and it looked like I was completely unaware of or didn’t care about the state of the world.

I never want that to be the case, because it never is.

I feel like I can’t post because we’re stuck in a vicious cycle of “Breaking News.” How am I supposed to show you pretty things when the world feels so ugly?

I need to share my work in order for people to know I exist and, at the end of the day, to earn a living.

I guess the point of this post is…

I don’t know how to navigate owning a business, feeling deeply, and living in the world we’re all collectively moving through right now. I don’t want you to think I don’t care, because I do. Probably more than what’s good for me at this point.

If you want to create pretty things together and escape the world for a moment, I’m here for that. If I seem quiet, please don’t forget about me...
