This always one of the hardest months of the year for me. I’ve never made a big deal out of celebrating my birthdays but it’s so much harder to now.

This day, I had rushed from work to attend the schools celebration of all the students accepted to college. I’ve never missed an event for my children. And somehow at this very time, I was hiding severe depression while working 2 full time jobs and managed being a full time parent and a part time wife.

Who knew that a few months later, I’d have to say goodbye to my strong minded (they all are), bubbly, full of life, super independent but somehow stayed in my pockets daughter. I was literally working to put her through school. She had only been away at college for 1 month!

But even more heartbreaking is that her siblings and my dad wanted to surprise me for my birthday but I was too depressed to get out of bed. No one noticed because I was working all the time so they assumed I was just overly tired. A few days later I would get the worse call of my life.

I share this because this is Su***de Prevention Month. But awareness is daily. Some people appear strong and put together but they are fighting battles no one could know or understand. Being kind takes way less energy than being mean. 💜💜💜

💜 This year, I’m walking for a reason that is deeply personal to me. 💜

On November 1st, I’ll be participating in the Atlanta Walk for Su***de Prevention.

This isn’t just another walk for me.

I am a survivor of three su***de attempts. I know what it feels like to reach a place where the pain becomes so heavy that you don’t know if you can keep carrying it. And even though I survived, I can also be honest enough to say that there are still days when I struggle.

But I’m still here. 💜

I also know the other side of su***de—the side of losing someone close to you and being left with the questions, memories, love, and grief that remain after they’re gone.

So this year, I’m walking for survival AND remembrance.

My fundraising goal is $240, chosen intentionally to represent the age he was when we lost him: 24.

Every donation—$5, $10, $24, whatever you can give—helps support su***de prevention, awareness, education, and resources for people who may be fighting battles that nobody else can see.

I’m walking for the person I lost.

I’m walking for the three times I almost wasn’t here.

I’m walking for the version of me that survived.

And I’m walking for somebody who may need to know that making it through today is enough. 💜
