The Pretty Truth: SPF protects some of the most expensive work on your face and body.

UV doesn’t care what you paid.

Repeated sun exposure can fade body and cosmetic tattoos, dull color and soften contrast. Your skin is the display case. Protect the artwork.

And yes, your car counts. Windshields block much of the UV, but side-window UVA protection varies. Your face, hands and tattooed arm can collect exposure during everyday driving. No beach required.

SPF protects your skincare investment, too. Corrective peels and microchanneling can improve discoloration, texture and fine lines, but results need protection. Once your provider clears you, daily broad-spectrum SPF helps protect your progress and reduce additional UV damage.

Preventing sun damage is generally easier than correcting it later. SPF cannot stop aging, because we have yet to bully time itself, but it helps prevent premature aging caused by UV.

The basics:
☀️ Choose broad-spectrum SPF 30+.
☀️ Apply generously about 15 minutes before exposure, including cloudy days and time driving or near windows.
☀️ Reapply at least every two hours outdoors and after swimming, sweating or towel drying, following the label.
☀️ Cover ears, neck, chest, hands and exposed healed tattoos. Use an SPF lip product for healed lip blush.
☀️ Add shade, hats and protective clothing. Sunscreen is a teammate, not the entire defensive line.

Your moisturizer with SPF CAN count if it’s broad-spectrum SPF 30+ and you apply enough. The issue isn’t “dilution.” It’s that a tiny dab won’t deliver the protection on the label. Makeup with SPF often has the same application problem. Reapplication still matters.

Fresh tattoos, peels or microchanneling? Follow your provider’s aftercare, avoid direct sun and wait for clearance before applying sunscreen to healing skin.

The Pretty Truth is: your waxing appointment may be over, but your skin is still settling.

For the next 24–48 hours, freshly waxed skin would prefer that you behave yourself. That means avoiding hot baths, saunas, heavy workouts, excessive sweating, tight clothing and anything else creating unnecessary heat or friction.

Yes, even if leg day is calling. It can leave a voicemail.

A little restraint now helps minimize irritation, redness and angry follicles later. Keep the area clean, cool and comfortable, then return to your regular routine once the skin has calmed.

Smooth needs good technique at the wax table and a tiny bit of good behavior afterward. ◡̈
