One thing I pay close attention to while retightening my client’s microlocs is the integrity of the loc.

I’m not just trying to see how fast I can get through a retie. I’m looking at the growth, the way the loc is forming, the tension, and making sure I’m maintaining the integrity of each loc.

Because honestly… it’s not always about speed.

It’s about learning the technique, understanding what your hands are doing, and being intentional with every rotation.

Speed comes with time. The more you practice, the more comfortable and efficient you become. But I’d rather take my time and do it correctly than rush just to say I finished fast.

If you’re a loctician working on your speed, don’t rush the process. Master the technique first. The speed will come.

At the end of the day, it’s not a race…it’s somebody’s crown we’re taking care of.
