Jessica is a business management consultant, specializing in the medical aesthetics industry.
At what point does cash flow actually feel stable?
Spoiler: it’s not just about top-line revenue.
It’s about profitability, efficiency, and being honest about what’s actually holding your business back.
In this episode of Aesthetic Brokers, Jessica Hunter dives into the real conversations practice owners avoid- bottlenecks, margin leaks, and the difference between being busy and being sustainably profitable.
Sometimes growth doesn’t require doing more.
It requires seeing clearer.
🎧 Tap in if you’re ready to stop chasing numbers and start building stability that lasts.
Every service in your MedSpa has a different job.
Some are designed to bring new patients in.
Some build trust and retention.
Some drive packages and upgrades.
And some are your true profit drivers.
Offering variety isn’t the problem, understanding your service mix and margins is. When you know the purpose behind each service, your promotions, pricing, and packages become much more intentional.
This is one of the most valuable things practices gain when working with a Hunter Consulting: clarity around what to grow, what to package, and how to protect profit.
If you’re busy but margins feel tight, it might be time to look at your service mix differently. And we can help.
One of the biggest things I see holding clinic owners back isn't a lack of information. It's that the information they have is scattered, hard to read, and takes too long to pull together. So it doesn't get looked at as often as it should. And decisions get made on feelings instead of data.
So I helped build something to fix that.
An AI powered financial dashboard designed specifically for medical aesthetic practices. Everything that matters in one place, in a format that actually makes sense, updated in a way that makes financial reviews something you can do in minutes rather than half a day.
Your numbers should be working for you. Not sitting in a spreadsheet nobody has time to open.

Hire slow fire fast has always been the rule. I still believe the fire fast part completely.
But the hire slow piece looks different to me now.
People aren't staying in roles the way they used to. The landscape has changed. And spending three months deliberating over a candidate while your team is stretched is its own kind of cost.
So if the resume is right and the reference is solid, stop overthinking it. Get them in the space. See how they interact with your patients. Watch how they treat the people around them. Notice whether they take initiative or wait to be directed.
That's the real interview. And it tells you everything the formal one doesn't.
You will know fast whether someone belongs in your clinic. And if they don't... you move fast.
Curious - has your approach to hiring shifted over the last few years?

Pricing strategy is not a once-a-year conversation about whether to raise your prices.
It is a deliberate, ongoing decision about what every number on your menu is meant to accomplish. Acquisition. Retention. Volume. Loyalty.
When you know what each price is for, the whole thing works differently.

Your exit from your business is not a moment. It is a process. And the value you walk away with is determined by decisions you make years before you ever sit across from a buyer.
-Your revenue mix.
-Your team structure.
-How dependent the practice is on you being there every single day.
-Whether your financials tell a clean, compelling story or require a lot of explaining.
None of that gets fixed in the months before a sale. It gets built in the years before one.
So whatever stage you are at right now, whether you are two years in or fifteen, whether you are thinking about selling in three years or ten, if an exit is anywhere in your long term picture the conversation starts today.
Not when you are ready. Now.
This was one of the biggest themes coming out of my session at The Aesthetic Show this year and the conversations happening at the show told me everything I needed to know about how much this conversation is needed.

Last week, we took the stage at The Aesthetics Show in Vegas to talk about something most clinic owners aren't thinking about... until it's too late. The exit strategy no one talks about.
Here's the truth: if you ever plan to sell your practice — whether that's next year or five years from now — the work starts today.
One of the biggest things we covered? Setting clear expectations and standards with your team now.
Buyers aren't just buying your client list. They're buying how your clinic runs without you in the room. Strong systems, clear roles, documented processes, that's what makes a practice sellable. Not just profitable, sellable.
If your team can't operate at a high standard without you micromanaging every detail, that's not a future problem. That's a today problem.
Start building the business you'll eventually be proud to hand off — even if "eventually" feels far away.

Starting a clinic involves more decisions than most owners anticipate, and the ones made early often have the longest-lasting impact.
A few things worth getting right from the start:
→ Foundation — services, pricing, staffing, and systems should be designed with scale in mind, not adjusted after the fact
→ Experience — having guided multiple clinic launches, we've seen which decisions save time and money, and which ones tend to cost owners later
→ Support that continues — the work doesn't stop at launch. The first year of operation often shapes everything that follows
If you're in the planning stages of opening your own practice, this is the kind of guidance that tends to matter most before doors open, not after.

Fresh off The Aesthetic Show 2026 with Jessica Hunter from HC and Bill Walker, Founder and CEO of Aesthetic Brokers.
Every year this show delivers but this one felt different. The energy on the tradeshow floor was amazing. The conversations happening between booths, in the hallways, over coffee - that's where some of the most valuable exchanges were taking place. Not just in the lecture halls.
But the thing that stood out most to both of us was this: clinic owners are finally having open conversations about their numbers and their future.
Exit strategy used to be a topic people avoided. Too vulnerable. Too final. Too much like admitting you are thinking about walking away from something you built. What we saw this week was different. Owners asking real questions. Being honest about where they are financially. Wanting to understand what their practice is actually worth and what it would take to get it where it needs to be.
That shift matters. Because the earlier you start that conversation the more options you have.

💬 What was your biggest takeaway from The Aesthetic Show this year?
The consultation is not a task to hand off.
It's the entire reason a patient chose you over every other option in their market. Your clinical eye. Your treatment philosophy. The way you read a face and think through an outcome. That can't be systemized.
The consultation is where your value lives as a provider. The moment you remove yourself from that conversation you are not saving time. You're giving away the one thing patients are actually paying for.
