DOs
• Cut your hair before New Year’s Day. In Chinese tradition, cutting hair during the New Year period is believed to “cut away” luck (the word for hair, 发 "fa", sounds like prosperity). So trim, refresh, color — just do it before the first day.
• Book facials, brows, lashes in advance. You want to enter the year polished, not recovering from redness.
• Exfoliate + scrub + cleanse well today on your hair, face, and body — symbolic “shedding” of old energy.
• Choose auspicious tones: red lips, peach blush, warm gold shimmer.

DON’Ts
• Wear dull/dark makeup, choose a brighter tone just for today.
• Wear all black or white — traditionally linked to mourning.
• Cut your hair or do any treatments involving needles and blood on the first day.
