MY FINAL ACNE UPDATE.
Since I created this profile almost four years ago, I’ve learned an incredible amount of information about skincare, self care, confidence, and healing.
But most importantly, I learned about my own tenacity and grit.
I went through periods of self hatred and low self esteem, refusing to leave my home from fear of what people would think of my painful cystic acne. Would people think I’m unhygienic, unhealthy, or worse, unfortunate?
I tried every cream and remedy, burned my face, ruined my skin barrier, and made every mistake along the way.
Until I attended and graduated esthetician school, received my license, and began beauty business school as a result of the fateful morning I woke up in 2020 with pimples and bumps covering every inch of my face. How could I have known back then that that would be the biggest blessing I’d ever received, and the beginning of my personal legacy?
I learned about the function of skin as an organ and the role it plays in the body. I learned how to manage my hormone levels and how to read skincare ingredients like a pro. And when I do get an occasional pimple here and there, I don’t freak out, I know what to do.
And this, the very last picture in this carousel, is me now. Just a tinted serum, a simple skincare routine, and a new wealth of knowledge and strength to take on the world.
Obviously, I’ve been inactive the last year or so on this profile.
I found that posting acne related content had forced me to niche down in such a way that if I ever wanted to post content related to anything else, my numbers would just plummet. And while I adore the community in which I found so much solace and support whilst healing my skin, I also want to share so much of my life to those who would be interested. If you’re interested in seeing more content about me than just skincare, keep your eyes peeled for updates about what kind of content I’ll be making in the future!

Calling all spooky bi***es 🦇
•
This Halloween, some of us may be feeling a little self conscious about the state of our skin.
•
The only thing scarier than Halloween itself, is a costume you didn’t wear because you feared what others may think of you.
•
So I’m here to tell you to slap on that makeup, and remind all those little tricks that the treat this year is YOU 🍭

From the drafts 🍑

This is my skin under makeup.
I have texture, visible pores, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and active pimples at any given time.
I’ve tried blurring makeup products, miracle creams, new diet changes, increasing my water consumption, doctors, and home remedies.
And yet here I remain, flawed and imperfect.
And so, so goddamn beautiful.

Golden hour + skin texture ☀️
•
This is what my skin looks like with makeup on.
•
I’ve had cystic acne on my cheeks and chin for almost as long as I can remember, which has left me with pitted scars.
•
I’m doing what I can to nurse my skin back to good health, and I know I’ll receive scar removal procedures in the future, but I cannot guarantee that my face will ever be “normal.”
•
And that’s okay. I’m beautiful and strong.
•
My scars are a map of the places I’ve been and the things I’ve seen.
•
They’re a true interpretation of my resilience and my grit.
•
As long as I’m around to watch another sunset, I’ll be grateful for my body; the vessel that holds the stream of consciousness that is me.

A little body love for your feed this morning 💙
•
My stomach has always been a huuuge insecurity for me, it’s just where I hold a majority of my weight, regardless of how much I lose or gain.
•
But this body has been through so much with me. It’s experienced ups and downs, lived through times of great sadness and times of great joy, and has always been the protective vessel in which I navigate the world.
•
So today, I’m celebrating my body, and thanking her for all that she’s done, and for housing the stream of consciousness that is me.
•
Remember to thank your body today. Loving yourself in a society that encourages you to hate your features is truly a radical act.

This summer’s gonna be a scorcher, so this is your sign to WEAR THE CROP!
•
Let’s not spend another summer not wearing what we truly want to because we don’t think we have the body to “pull it off.”
•
Every body has rolls, dips, and curves. And every body is worthy of love, fun, and the best ensembles the world has to offer.
•
The only thing I INSIST you wear this summer is SPF, obvi ☀️

Why don’t we see folks with acne depicted in artistic ways? 🦋
•
The media hardly represents acneic skin types as anything but a “before” photo, or something that needs to be eradicated before a person can feel lovable again.
•
Acne is a skin condition that afflicts many people, but you’d never know it when you turn on your tv or scroll through social media.
•
I of course don’t mean to romanticize my acne itself, but I do deserve to see myself as living, breathing art, complete with flaws and scars.
•
You don’t have to wait until you’ve cleared your skin to feel beautiful in a society where loving yourself is a radical move to begin with.
•
You can love yourself as you are now, in this exact moment, and you’re totally free to present whichever version of yourself to the world as you’d like.
