summer with SBJ looked a lil like this 🥾🦋
hikes, cute fits, new faces + getting outside with the girls 🌿
thank u to everyone who spent a lil bit of ur summer with us. we had too much fun being outside with u 🤭
same time next summer?
not everyone’s gonna get it, even when u thought they would.
but if anything, being overlooked has only made us more confident in what we’re building.
so yeahhh, we’re gonna keep taking up space anyway 🦋

when we say “not new to us,” we really mean it 🤭
before SBJ, there was Jess watching her abuela make her own masks + beauty remedies from the earth in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico🌹
years later, that memory became part of the reason SBJ exists in the first place.
so when the beauty industry calls going back to the earth “clean beauty,” we can’t help but 🙄 a little.
for us, it goes back generations.

the original wellness girlies aka our abuelas knew a thing or two 🌿
when u know how to work with the earth, nothing really goes to waste. that knowledge has been passed down, adapted + carried with us for generations.
so this whole back-to-nature beauty era? yeahhh, we get it.
some things are in the roots 🦋

remember when we said some things have been renamed, repackaged, and introduced back to us as “new”?
well… Exhibit A: Papaya Glow.
They call it multi-use beauty.
We call it making the most of what you have ‼️
Face oil. Oil cleanser. Makeup remover.
One bottle, three steps handled.

What does American culture look like without Latina influence?
And since the case is already open, let’s talk about it 💭‼️

Funny how the things we grew up with keep getting introduced back to us as something new.
New name. New packaging. Same rituals.
We noticed. We know you did too…
So we pulled the receipts.
