I’m still thinking about this one.

Last week, I joined and the LA community for a screening of Reclaimed: Beyond the Braid, a documentary that asks an important question: What if the beauty we’ve been sold is harming us?

As an esthetician, I’m always paying attention to what we put on and around our bodies. This film highlights the health risks of synthetic braiding hair and follows the creation of Rebundle, the first U.S. brand leading the way with plant-based braiding hair. Most importantly, it centers the voices of Black women demanding transparency, safety, respect, and reclaiming autonomy over their health and beauty choices.

Spaces like this remind me why representation, research, and accountability in beauty matter so much. This is the kind of conversation the industry needs more of.
