A look back at lipstick ads through the decades
Tangee, 1930s - know for deep, dramatic colors with a gloss finish.
Tangee, 1947 - known for patriotic red shades and the rise of Hollywood glamour
Revlon, 1954 - bold red lips. Creamy and matte shades were popular.
Max Factor, 1967 - pale, muted and frosty shades were popular.
Almay, 1970 - warmer and more natural. Sun kissed was the go to look. Bold shades and gloss was also popular.
Cover Girl, 1986 - known for vibrant high gloss hot pinks and bold reds.
Maybelline, 1990s - known for mattes, brown tones nudes and vampy dark lips.
Maybelline, 2000s - icy shades, frosty finishes glitters and glossy lips were popular. Duh!
