Join us tomorrow at MA VIE | New York as we celebrate one year of L’AMOUR MÈRE & unveil something new 🤎

We’re so excited to mark this milestone at MA VIE. L’AMOUR MÈRE is inspired by the French phrase for “mother’s love,” while MA VIE means “my life.” It feels like a beautiful pairing, and we’re honored to have our collection as part of their thoughtfully curated space. See you there x

A little movie magic, a little olfactory magic. 💜🛼

Natalie is a modern interpretation of my mom’s signature scent. It opens with bright neroli and freesia before blooming into lush gardenia, orange flower, and jasmine. In the rollerballs, the organic coconut oil base lets the fragrance wear close to the skin, unfolding gently throughout the day. A scent that lingers like a beautiful memory. This scene is one of mine...

My sister Courtney and I got to be extras in this scene. Whenever I come across this clip, it takes me right back to that day and the fun we had. My mom learned to roller skate for the film, and we thought that was about the coolest thing ever because we were completely obsessed with roller skating. If you rewatch The Last Couple in America, let me know if you can spot us.

Freesia drifting on bright air.
Neroli, rose, a flash of bitter orange.
A gardenia opening—slow, golden, endless.
Orange flower, jasmine, hyacinth
Petals suspended in light.
Vanilla hums against skin.
Soft woods, warm musk.

Nearness that never leaves

I am sitting in my family’s storage unit in Glendale. I’ve been here a handful of times now, and I’m beginning to know the place—the cavernous aisles, shelves of film canisters, boxes of photographs, cabinets full of old scripts. There is the smell of polished concrete and fresh wood underneath it all, but mostly the air is scented with the damp sweetness of paper softening with time.
Today, the hours pass slowly. My head is heavy with information. My eyes are glazed from so much organizing.

An unremarkable brown box sits on the floor.
I kneel beside it.

Inside are several three-quarter-inch videotapes. Beneath them sits a small leather book, its binding worn and slightly broken. I turn it over in my hands.

Stamped in fading gold letters is my mother’s name.

Natalie Wood Wagner.

I open the cover...

Today I’m launching After the Flower, a new Substack where I’ll be sharing personal essays on scent, memory, family, and the invisible things that shape us.
