September is apparently my character-building month.

A long-overdue procedure, rotator cuff surgery, six weeks in a sling, and me trying to get everything done before the 25th.

Yay me.

Haven’t posted in over a week. I decided to turn the last 10 days into a medical-themed obstacle course.

Second-opinion ortho visit, MRI on my right shoulder, found out my right rotator cuff has a 3/4” tear that requires surgery to repair it but most likely will need to be replaced. Surgery officially scheduled for September 25.

Then Thursday was colonoscopy prep, because why not throw in something super fun, and Friday was the actual procedure.
I’m 57 and this should’ve been done at 50.
Shame on me!

So it’s been a whole lot of appointments, scheduling, thinking, processing, and generally being extremely glamorous.
Don’t be jealous.

But I’m back and ready for some normal, fun stuff again while I still have two functioning arms... because come September 25, this right one is headed into a sling for at least six weeks.

Ugh!!!

I’ve been going back and forth about whether I should post this or not.

I’m pretty passionate about it, and if I’m being truthful, seeing these massive weekly hauls struck a nerve in me because it opened my eyes to my own relationship with shopping.

I’m an overconsumer too. I know the rush of ordering something, seeing that package on the porch and then almost immediately looking for the next fix.

I’m not saying this because I think I’m above it. I’m saying it because I’m on both sides of it — as a content creator and as a consumer.

But boxes stacked to the ceiling and an entire season’s worth of clothes showing up every single week? It’s not realistic, it’s not sustainable and it sure as hell is not normal.

I’m still gonna shop. I still love fashion. I’ll still share smaller hauls and things I genuinely love.

But the VOLUME has got to come down.

Mine included.

I don’t want to keep contributing to making this level of consumption look normal week after week.

And I KNOW I’m not the only one who feels this way.

Who knew being shoved in a noisy tube with no phone for 30 minutes would be the most relaxing part of my day?
