Today marks one year since my moms accident and stroke.

It's hard to believe how much life can change in a single day.

This year has been one of the most difficult times of my life. There have been days filled with fear, exhaustion, tears, uncertainty and moments when I wondered how was I going to keep going. Between caring for my mom, helping with my disabled brother, trying to keep my Barbershop open, taking care of my home and simply trying to hold everything together, there were times I felt overwhelmed.

Through it all I've also been reminded how much kindness still exists in this world.

To my wonderful niece, Danielle, thank you thank you for being there for me in so many ways. Your Love and Support have meant more than you'll ever know.

To my family members, especially my sister Sylvia Gonzales who's been on this journey with me helping with sharing half of the responsibilities of the care of my mom and disabled brother and those who have helped big and small, thank you.

To my loyal customers and friends who stayed with me through cancelled appointments, shortened hours, and difficult days... thank you for your prayers, patience, and your understanding, and for continuing to supporting my little Barbershop. You've been a blessing to me.

And to the special friends who have simply listened, encouraged me, reminded me to keep my head up, or made me smile when I needed it the most... thank you you know who you are, and you'll always have a special place in my heart. Christopher B. Thank You.

Most of all, thank you God, for giving me the strength to keep putting one foot in front of the other, even in the days that it feels impossible.

My Mom is still with us, and for that I remain grateful. Everyday is a gift and I'm praying for many moments together.

Thank you, everyone, for walking beside me through one of the hardest years of my life.

To all my customers, family, friends, and everyone who follows Rosa’s Barbershop — thank you.

I want to share something personal so you understand why you haven’t seen me at the shop lately.

On Saturday, August 2nd, around 9 p.m., my mother was in a single-car accident. Thankfully, no one else was hurt — but my mom was injured.

After the doctors ran tests, they discovered she has a weak heart. Imaging and scans showed she suffered a stroke to the back left side of her brain, which likely caused her to black out and lose control of the car. This part of the brain controls mobility on the right side of her body and her speech.

She has now been in the hospital for 11 days. My sister and I have been taking turns being with her, adjusting our work schedules to make sure she’s never alone. My sister even left her hospital job to be with Mom full-time. My mom is diabetic and insulin-dependent, which has made recovery more challenging.

I’m asking all my prayer warriors and friends to lift her up in prayer for full healing and strength. Please also keep me in your prayers so I can stay strong for her.

Thank you to everyone who has called, messaged, or asked about her — your support means more than I can say. I’m sorry for any inconvenience my absence at the barbershop has caused, but I know you understand that family comes first.

Something different, just wanted let you customers know that these were the last 5 customers of 2024 that I was privilege and honored to have cut their hair.
