Two years of growing, trimming, and smiling. So proud of our little guy’s haircut journey 🧡
💞My heart behind the chair 💞
Helping children feel safe during a haircut has become one of the greatest purposes of my work. My goal has never been just to cut hair. It has always been to show children that haircuts can be fun, that they don’t have to be scary, and to gently introduce them to the salon environment. I take the time to familiarize them with the clippers, the scissors, the sounds, and each step of the process so they can build confidence at their own pace.
It is work that I truly love. But there is also so much that happens behind the scenes that most parents and clients never see.
There have been days when my hair has been pulled, when I have been hit, punched, kicked, had toys thrown at me, or even been thrown up on. There have been moments when the entire salon felt stressful because a child was overwhelmed and afraid. In those moments, my responsibility isn’t just to give a haircut. It’s to remain calm, patient, and reassuring while helping a child feel safe enough to trust me.
Every appointment requires understanding, patience, flexibility, and compassion. I meet each child where they are. I give them space when they need it, introduce the tools one step at a time, celebrate every small victory, and never stop trying to create an environment where they feel comfortable, respected, and safe while still providing the best haircut I possibly can.
There have been many successful moments that have filled my heart with joy, and there have been difficult moments where, despite everyone’s best efforts, things simply didn’t go as hoped. Some things are beyond my control. But those moments never diminish the effort, care, or dedication that I bring to every single child who walks through our doors.
Recently, I shared that if our salon isn’t the right fit for your child or doesn’t meet your expectations, it’s okay to find another salon. Every child is different, and every child thrives in a different environment. I truly understand and respect that.
What has been difficult, however, is when the effort behind our work goes unseen. I don’t often talk about what happens behind the scenes because I believe the focus should always be on the child. But I also feel it’s important for people to understand that this work is one of the most emotionally demanding parts of our profession.
We carry the responsibility of staying calm when a child is frightened. We encourage them through tears and fear. We reassure them that they are safe, that they are brave, and that they can do hard things. At the same time, we work to provide a safe, quality haircut while supporting the parents through what can be a very emotional experience.
It isn’t easy. But it is deeply rewarding.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of watching children who once cried at the sight of the salon grow into kids who run through the door excited to see Miss Maggie. I’ve built relationships with families that now span four generations. Seeing that trust grow over the years reminds me why I continue to do this work.
Will every visit be perfect? No. Will I always be able to meet every expectation? Unfortunately, no. But I can promise this: every child who sits in my chair receives my full attention, my patience, my compassion, and my very best effort. My hope is that every family leaves knowing they were cared for, respected, and welcomed, and that every child leaves feeling just a little braver than when they first walked through the door.
Thank you for everyone that continues support us! We truly appreciate this community and the loves in return 💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝

Happy Mother’s Day to all the beautiful and amazing moms

The Parents came in this week with her young three-and-a-half-year-old son whose hair had grown quite long because he was afraid of haircuts. His mom had been trimming it at home, and they had tried several salons before, but no one had been able to get close enough to complete the haircut. When he arrived, he was understandably nervous and hesitant. I gave him time to settle in, letting him get comfortable with the space and with me, gently introducing him to the fun styling chairs. At first, he resisted—but slowly, something shifted. Gave him some time and space to get comfortable with us and the setting. He slowly got comfortable, he started picked up a toy, walked over, and climbed onto the airplane chair. From there, everything unfolded with patience and care. I was able to comb through his hair and gradually begin the haircut, moving at his pace. To everyone’s surprise, he stayed calm the entire time—no tears, no resistance—just quiet trust as we worked through to the end. When we finished, his mom was overwhelmed with emotion, brought to tears, hugging his dad in disbelief at what had just happened. Moments like that are what make this work so deeply fulfilling and meaningful. 💜💜💜💜💜
