Hi, I’m Nelia Nikolina, a professional hair stylist, makeup artist, and wardrobe stylist specializing in headshots and portfolio photoshoots for child models and actors.

I work closely with photographers to create polished, natural-looking images that meet industry standards while highlighting each child’s unique personality. From hair and light camera-ready makeup to wardrobe, shoes, and accessories, I take care of every element of the styling process to create a complete, cohesive look.

For every photoshoot, I personally source clothing and accessories, provide styling support on set, and help create multiple looks throughout the session. This allows us to maximize the variety of images and build a stronger portfolio from a single shoot.

Professional styling is an important part of a successful headshot session. Small details, such as fit, colors, hair, and overall presentation, can make a significant difference in how images are received by agents and casting directors. My role is to ensure that every detail works together and that your child looks confident, authentic, and camera-ready.

Whether your child is just starting their journey or already represented by an agency, my goal is to help create images that feel natural, professional, and memorable.

If you’re new here, welcome! I’m so glad you’re here ❤️

This look instantly brought to mind the legendary stage style of Michael Jackson: structured denim, statement details, and a silhouette that commands attention. 🔥

For this editorial, I wanted to create a modern interpretation: oversized proportions, pearl embellishments, a crisp white shirt, and effortless confidence. The result is bold yet playful, strong yet age-appropriate.

Fashion is storytelling, and sometimes a single outfit can pay tribute to an iconic era while feeling completely fresh and contemporary.

One of the biggest misconceptions in photoshoots is that makeup is only for girls. 🙃

Professional makeup for boys is usually invisible. It’s about evening out the skin, reducing unwanted shine, and helping facial features look their best under studio lighting.

The goal isn’t to change how a child looks—it’s to ensure they look polished, confident, and camera-ready.

Fashion styling for kids is all about balance: personality, comfort, and a touch of trend. 😉

For this shoot, I mixed oversized denim, soft pink accents, sporty details, and statement layers to create looks that feel fresh, expressive, and age-appropriate. Every piece was chosen to let the model move naturally while still creating strong editorial images.

The best styling doesn’t overpower the child—it helps their personality shine through.

A successful photoshoot is never just about clothes, hair, or makeup separately. It’s about how every detail works together. 🔥

For this editorial, we combined soft colors, relaxed silhouettes, natural grooming, and confident posing to create a modern, playful story with personality.

When styling, I always think beyond individual pieces—I think about the mood, the character, and the feeling the final images should leave behind.

How to Prepare a Child’s Skin for a Photoshoot and Natural Makeup?

✔ Hydration – The day before the shoot, apply a lightweight children’s moisturizer or hydrating emulsion to prevent dryness and flakiness.

✔ Clean Skin – On the morning of the shoot, wash the face with a gentle, non-irritating cleanser.

✔ Less is More – Avoid heavy oils, scrubs, or new skincare products the day before to prevent irritation or reactions.

✔ Lips – Apply a moisturizing lip balm before heading to the shoot for a soft, natural look.

✔ Rest – A good night’s sleep is the best way to ensure a fresh, healthy complexion!

With this preparation, the skin will look flawless, and natural makeup will enhance the child’s beauty without overpowering it.😍

A great model portfolio is more than beautiful photos.

It’s about showing range, confidence, and personality.

For this shoot, we created several distinct looks to demonstrate versatility while keeping the focus on the model herself. Different styling choices can completely transform the mood of an image and help agencies and brands see a child’s full potential.

Because sometimes one photoshoot can tell many different stories. ✨

For this shoot, I wanted to create three completely different moods while keeping the same young model recognizable and authentic.

Look 1 combines a classic trench coat, a pleated skirt, and a graphic sweater. The goal was to create a modern editorial look that feels confident, stylish, and slightly mature while still remaining age-appropriate.

Look 2 focuses on softness and texture. The oversized bomber jacket, delicate details, and relaxed pose create a contemporary fashion story often seen in children’s commercial campaigns.

Look 3 introduces color blocking and layering. The mix of blue, green, and white brings energy and personality while allowing the model’s natural confidence to shine through.

A successful portfolio should show versatility. Casting directors and brands want to see that a child can embody different styles, emotions, and fashion concepts within a single shoot.

That’s exactly what we aimed to achieve here. ✨

For this look, I wanted to create a modern editorial feel by combining timeless classics with contemporary styling.

The trench coat and pleated skirt bring structure and elegance, while the graphic sweater adds personality and a fashion-forward edge. To keep the look authentic, I enhanced the model’s natural curls and chose soft, age-appropriate makeup.

Every detail was designed to showcase confidence, versatility, and individuality — qualities that help a young model stand out in a professional portfolio. 🤍
