🥳 Better Late Than Never: We’re 4! 🥳
Can you believe it? Organic Bites by Sue officially turned 4 YEARS OLD this May! 🌿✨
Between handcrafting your favorite organic treats, packing up for the local markets, and keeping things fresh, May absolutely flew by—and we completely forgot to celebrate our own birthday! 🤦♀️🎂
I "offically" started this journey in 2022 with a simple mission: to bring you fresh, organic, and handmade goodness. Four years later, looking at this amazing community, our hearts (and market bags) are completely full.
To every single person who has bought a bag of balls, sipped on my elderberry syrup, visited my stand, or shared my posts: THANK YOU. We wouldn't be here without you. ❤️

Don't let a little wet weather ruin your weekend plans! The Farmers Market at Hazlet kicks off tomorrow, and we are on RAIN OR SHINE!
🌧️ Weather Update: If the raindrops start falling, don't worry—we are moving the party indoors! You can find us right inside the James J. Cullen Center, so you can shop comfortably and stay completely dry.
Come out, support our incredible local vendors, and stock up on the freshest produce, baked goods, and handmade treats.

This tiny little elderberry cutting showed up in my memories this week. I laughed and looked out the window at the multiple towering “trees” that now exist in their places in the yard.
Before Organic Bites was a thing, I was making elderberry for my kids. My Dad (in NC) ordered these cuttings and sent them to the house. He was an avid gardener, but never grew elderberry. He decided I needed a local source of berries and just sent them. He didn’t ask; that wasn’t his style.
I’d never grown elderberry before. They took off that first year and then the deer came and ate them down to nothing. The elderberry loved it. They came back twice as big. Especially the one near the compost.
Now I have about 6 elderberry “trees” in the yard. Two I transplanted to the front. I ask friends to take cuttings. Each year more volunteer. Even when I cut them back, they just take off.
True, the birds eat most of the berries. But the white flowers are beautiful. The shade is lovely. And we probably have the healthiest birds in Monmouth County. I couldn’t net these trees if I tried.
I never would have grown these if he hadn’t sent them. I didn’t ask for a them. And now I have a memory of my dad who taught me to love gardening. And eating fruit off the vine. (PS don’t eat elderberries off the bush).
So I say…Plant something this summer. You never know how the life of those plants may affect you later 💚🌱
