The Pappy’s Cuts Story

We provide men’s haircuts with great skill at good prices. No up-charges, no bull. And we throw in some laughs, a lot of sports talk (ok, maybe there’s some bull going on here), and random conversation.

In 1996, David Large, Sr., a Master Barber, established "Barber Shop" as a staple in the heart of Downtown Matthews, NC. His son, David Large II (Dave), joined in 2003, and between these two genuine and laid-back guys, their clients kept coming back for expert and efficient haircuts, laughter, and (mostly) quick-witted comebacks.

At the shop, we “do” simple. No online appointments, no answering machine. If we answer the phone, we’re here. Word about us travels due to our happy clients, and we appreciate them, their kudos, and referrals. Thank you for sharing your life stories with us, for giving us the opportunity to watch your families grow along with ours. We love being a part of Matthews. We’re blessed that new clients continue to find us and become regulars.

We lost our beloved father David Sr. in 2017, but not his spirit, the memories or the shop’s stories. In 2018, Dave re-named the business as "Pappy's Cuts" to honor dad. Dave’s still the same guy who cuts your hair, and we’re now online telling our story to ensure people learn about and remember the legacy that Pappy left for generations to come.
