Thank you all for your questions! We have answered the most common questions about the skating rink below:
1) The skate rentals are 100% FREE
2) Skate Sizes are as follows: Youth 8 - Adult 13
3) You can bring your own skates if you have them!
4) After internal discussion, we kindly ask that you please try to limit your time on the ice to around 30 minutes max, so that everyone has an opportunity to enjoy. About 50 people at a time can fit on the ice skating rink.

We’re thrilled to announce that this year’s Celebrate Christmas event will feature a full downtown ice skating rink, for not one but TWO days!!!!!

The ice skating rink is brought to our community by two separate sponsors, Earthrise Energy, and KC Summers!

This synthetic ice rink brings all the fun of skating without the need for refrigeration, and it’s perfect for all ages: beginners, seasoned skaters, and anyone looking to soak in some holiday magic. Lace up, laugh, glide, or shuffle your way across the ice… it’s all part of the fun!

🌟 You’ll find the rink right in Downtown Mattoon in the parking lot across from the Time Theater / Thai Noodle during our Celebrate Christmas festivities, creating an unforgettable winter scene between the lights, music, and holiday cheer.

⛸️ Friday, December 5th – Skate from 5:00pm to 8:00pm during Celebrate Christmas! Enjoy the rink on us, courtesy of our generous sponsor KC Summers!
⛸️ Saturday, December 6th – The rink will be open 9:00am to 5:00pm thanks to our sponsor Earthrise Energy! To help make sure everyone gets a turn on the ice, we kindly ask skaters to keep their sessions to 30 minutes or less.

1️⃣ These new attractions are reserved primarily for children — we want to make sure as many kids as possible get a turn!

2️⃣ Due to the popularity of these features, not every child may be able to ride. Our team will do their very best to move the line efficiently and safely so more kids can enjoy the fun.

3️⃣ ⚠️ For your safety: Costume capes and other loose accessories are NOT permitted on the zip line, climbing wall, or inflatables. If your costume has these, please make sure they can be easily removed before hopping on the rides.

There is a plastic recycling effort going on to collect all of the plastic bottles that we have used over the last 10 days.

Please bag the bottles and drop them off in the "Get It Gone" recycling bins at the City of Mattoon yard waste recycling facility.

Please be polite and drop off plastic bottles ONLY. The bottles will be recycled by EIASE Recycling and be made into something useful.

(This change in information from our first post is made possible by the recycling of our original post with the new information! The drop offs were kind of slow this morning- possibly because of the Bagelfest, the parade, and the rain - and the call for volunteers was not put out in time to get many scheduled, so it is do-it-is-yourself. The bins will be there throughout the day today and tomorrow.)
