Unfortunately we love a dangerous sport and it finally caught up with us yesterday.
Dakota broke his left femur when he crashed on his dirt bike.
This boy has been so unbelievably strong and brave. He let dad lift him into the truck to get rushed to the hospital (where some moving violations may have happened), then he got poked, proded and scanned. Once they determined there was no other injuries Dakota and I had our first ambulance ride over to the St Lukes Childrens Hospital in Boise while dad followed behind in the truck (probably breaking a few more moving violations) where he was again poked and proded. Then he got sent off to surgery to get 2 flexible rods put in that he will get taken out in 6-9 months. The last picture is him right out of surgery eating his popsicle so he's a little drowsy. He slept pretty easy through the night and had minimal pain but the muscle spasms are what we are going to struggle with for a few days.
He has honestly amazed us so much throughout this entire process. They are hopeful that recovery will be quick but for now he's got a splint on and will be non weight bearing for at least a few weeks.
I'm so grateful to have Tyler with me through all of this. I couldn't do it alone. And thank you so much to all of our friends and family who have been checking in on us and helping us out during all this. We love you all. ❤️
