All Dolled up for Morgan’s wedding 🤎 It’s safe to say I’m pretty conservative with bridal tans but every now and then there’s a crew that can absolutely carry a deep bronze. Mission accomplished! 💁🏼‍♀️

This girl realized at the airport that her $65 bottle of mousse was about to get taken by TSA because it was too big to fly

and instead of throwing it away…
she walked over to a plant
dug a little hole
and buried it

like it was something she was coming back for later

then got on her flight like everything was normal

went on her trip… lived her life…

came back FOUR DAYS later
went back to the same plant

and her bottle of mousse was still there
just waiting for her

Meanwhile airport security is probably reviewing footage like
why is she landscaping before her flight

but honestly… I get it!

When you finally find a tan you like
you’re not just throwing it away. Absolutely not.

Yall know it better be a BIG deal for me to close up shop during peak wedding season. But for Mya and Cristian I didn’t hesitate. Somehow we’ve become the salon brides book with… without a trial… and sometimes without ever having had a spray tan at all.
And that is crazy wild when you think about it. I know there are a lot of salons that won’t even take a bride without a trial. And I get it. But if you know me, you know I’m going to roll with it.

What gets me every time is when they walk in and say, “my friend told me I’d be fine.” What level of trust are y’all on?! I don’t even trust myself that much! 😂

And then this review came in today. Kelly had never tanned with us before, never even had a spray tan by a person. After a long and busy week at the salon, I needed this.

Honestly… the fact that someone they trust told them they could trust us?

Yeah. You right. 🤏🏽

I know AI feels like the easy button. Type in a prompt, get a list of cute names, pick one and done. But here’s the part people don’t think about. ChatGPT doesn’t invent names out of thin air. It pulls patterns from what already exists on the internet. So a lot of the names it gives you are just remixes of businesses that are already out there.

Which is exactly how people end up accidentally stepping into trademark issues.

My business name is trademarked. And over the past year I’ve had no less than TEN tanning businesses pop up using my name or something extremely close to it.

Ten.

And every time this conversation comes up, someone inevitably says:

“It’s not that big of a deal.”

Actually… it is.

Because the people saying that usually aren’t the ones who spent years building the brand, thousands of dollars on the trademark process, and even more time protecting it when someone decides to “borrow” the name. It’s easy to say it’s not a big deal when it’s not your time, your brand, your reputation, or your legal bill. AI doesn’t create originality. It only recycles what already exists.

So if you’re starting a business, please do yourself a favor before you fall in love with the name a robot gives you, search it online and check for a federal trademark on USPTO website.

Because building a brand takes years… and finding out later the name was never really yours is a very expensive mistake.
