Your braids should be customized to YOUR hair density!

Low-density/fine hair cannot always handle the same size, weight, or tension as someone with thicker, denser hair. When a style is too heavy or the sections are too large for the amount of hair supporting them, it can create unnecessary tension on the scalp and edges, leading to breakage and traction-related hair loss over time.

That’s why some clients may need smaller/lighter braids, fewer added bundles, or a different style altogether. And YES, sometimes that means knotless braids are the better option because they can reduce some of the weight and tension at the base.

A good hairstylist shouldn’t just ask, “What style do you want?” — they should ask, “What can YOUR hair safely support?”
