Yes, you CAN achieve healthy hair growth while wearing braids and extensions, BUT… there is a method to the madness! ‼️

Healthy hair and protective styles can absolutely coexist when you know how to create balance. 💯

Consistency is key. 🫶🏽

✨ Staying consistent with wash days
✨ Getting regular trims
✨ Properly moisturizing your hair
✨ Choosing low tension styles
✨ Giving your hair a break between braids and extensions
✨ Maintaining a healthy at home hair care routine

Too much of anything can work against your hair goals, and this client understands that! 💕

She gets her braids only 1 to 2 times a year and spends the rest of the time prioritizing her natural hair care routine. That balance allows her to enjoy protective styling while still prioritizing the health of her hair and scalp. ✅🌱

You really CAN have the best of both worlds. 🤞🏾✨🌎

You just have to learn how to create balance, protect your strands, care for your scalp, and stay consistent with your routine. 🎯🎯🎯

If you think ONE wash gets your hair clean… THINK AGAIN! 🫧 🤔

This is especially important if you have:

✨ Thick hair
✨ Low porosity hair
✨ High density hair
✨ Long hair
✨ A flaky or buildup prone scalp

👆🏾And even MORE important if you’re dealing with several of those at the same time.

Your scalp deserves to be properly cleansed, especially if you regularly use gels, butters, oils, creams, sprays, and other styling products.

Clean hair and a healthy scalp are the foundation for hair growth, scalp health, and even better styling results.

Healthy hair always starts with a CLEAN foundation. 🫧💇‍♀️🌱

This applies to hair extensions, skincare, food, medicine, and so much more! 👏🏾

So when clients come to me asking which hair extensions are “better” for their health, I always remind them that simply switching your extensions doesn’t automatically create better health. 🙄

If you genuinely care about improving your health, that mindset has to show up in every area of your life, not just your hair care routine. ❤️

I’ve been preaching this for years:
Less is more and Moderation matters‼️

I’m still using the same Kanekalon hair I’ve been using because the issue isn’t always the material itself. Sometimes it’s how often we use it, how long we leave it in, how we care for our natural hair underneath, and whether we’re giving our hair a chance to breathe and recover. 💯

Constantly using products, extensions, and styles that require you to keep covering up the same problems is where we can run into trouble. And honestly, the bigger conversation needs to be about the root of the problem. 🎯

How do we learn to properly manage our natural hair so we aren’t constantly dependent on extensions, wigs, and other cover ups? That’s where the real healing begins. 🌱

And this applies beyond hair too. If we’re going to talk about safer, more holistic choices, we have to look at the whole picture, not just pick one thing to change while everything else stays the same.🙅🏽‍♀️

So no, changing your extension hair alone isn’t going to secure better health. Let’s focus on creating better habits, live in moderation, and get more education that actually supports healthier hair and a healthier lifestyle. 💕🌱
