🥚🐓 KNOW YOUR FARMER. KNOW YOUR EGGS. 🌿

Let’s talk about FARM FRESH eggs for a minute…

Not all eggs being sold at farm stands are actually coming from the farm. Unfortunately, there are people who purchase eggs from grocery stores and turn around and resell them as their own farm-fresh eggs. And that defeats the whole purpose of supporting your local farmer!

Here at The Hippie Farmer, our eggs come from OUR birds, raised right here on OUR farm. 🐓❤️

And here’s something worth knowing…

🥚 Real farm eggs aren’t always picture-perfect!

Most small farms and backyard flocks have multiple breeds of chickens, and that means a beautiful variety of eggs! Different shades of brown, creamy whites, blues, greens, speckles, and sometimes even different shapes and sizes.

Some are big. Some are little. Some have freckles. Some are long and narrow. That’s part of the beauty of raising a diverse flock!

Now, that doesn’t mean uniform eggs aren’t farm fresh. Some farms raise just one or two breeds, and their eggs may look very similar. But when you’re buying from a farm that claims to have a mixed flock, a little variety is often part of the package.

The point isn’t that every egg needs to look different. The point is TRANSPARENCY.

When you spend your hard-earned money supporting local agriculture, you deserve to know where your food actually comes from.

Ask questions. Meet the chickens. Look around the farm. Build relationships with the people raising your food.

Because there’s a BIG difference between selling eggs and actually raising the hens that lay them.

🌻 Support real farmers. Support honest agriculture. KNOW YOUR FARMER.

And remember, farm fresh isn’t just a label. It’s a relationship built on trust. ❤️

How to Can Homemade Cranberry Juice 10/23/2026

🍒✨ Cranberry Season in New England Means It’s Time to Get CANNING! 🍂🌿

There’s something so satisfying about filling the pantry shelves with homemade goodness, especially when it comes to one of New England’s favorite little berries! ❤️

🌻🍂 Now THAT was a successful Sunday on the homestead! 🍂🌻

From 10 AM until 8 PM tonight, the kitchen was in full-on canning mode! Ten hours of chopping, stirring, simmering, filling jars, and preserving the harvest! 🫙🙌

Today’s lineup:

🫐 Garden Huckleberry Jam – Turning those beautiful homegrown berries into jars of goodness!

❤️ Cranberry Juice – Because what’s a New England fall without cranberries?!

🌿 Tomatillo Salsa – A little garden goodness with a kick!

There’s something so satisfying about seeing all those jars lined up on the counter after a long day. It’s exhausting, it’s messy, and my feet are definitely feeling it tonight, but knowing our pantry is filling up with food we’ve grown and preserved ourselves makes every minute worth it. ❤️

This is what homesteading is all about. Putting in the work today so we can enjoy the harvest long after the growing season is over.

Now it’s time to put my feet up! 😂

🫙 Fellow canners and homesteaders, what did YOU can today?! I’d love to hear what’s filling everyone else’s pantry this fall!

🍂🌿 We Are Meant to Change With the Seasons 🌿🍁

Our bodies were never meant to stay the same. Just like the earth, we are meant to move through seasons of growth, change, rest, and renewal.

Here in New England, we are blessed to witness these transitions so beautifully. The leaves change color, the trees release what they no longer need, the air grows cooler, and the earth slowly prepares for rest.

And perhaps we are meant to do the same.

For generations, our ancestors lived by the rhythms of nature. They understood the changing seasons, the foods that grew during each one, the importance of sunlight, and the need to slow down when the days grew shorter.

Somewhere along the way, we’ve become disconnected from those natural rhythms. We expect our bodies to have the same energy, the same routines, and the same needs all year long.

But nature doesn’t work that way. So why should we?

🍁 Fall teaches us to let go.
❄️ Winter reminds us to rest.
🌱 Spring encourages us to grow.
☀️ Summer invites us to flourish.

🌿☀️ A Productive Sunday on the Homestead! 🐮🍂

What a beautiful Sunday here at The Hippie Farmer! This holiday weekend has been all about getting things done, soaking up the sunshine, and enjoying the simple pleasures of homestead life. ❤️

Today was spent tackling the front of the house, clearing out the overgrown Rosa rugosa and hydrangeas, and giving everything a much-needed cleanup. 🌿✂️

And because there’s never just ONE project happening around here, I also managed to get some homemade French onion soup canned and added to our pantry shelves! 🧅🥣 There’s just something so satisfying about putting up food for the colder months ahead.

Meanwhile, the cows enjoyed themselves grazing around the yard, living their best lives while we worked. 🐮🌾

It was one of those beautiful New England fall days that makes you grateful for this life we’ve built. A little dirt on our hands, food in the pantry, happy animals, and a whole lot accomplished.

And the best part? There’s still plenty more to do tomorrow! 😂🌻

That’s homestead life. The work never ends, but neither do the rewards. ❤️

It’s cranberry season here in Massachusetts ❤️🍂

This morning, Vinnie and I took a walk through the bogs after feeding the cows, and the cranberries are being picked. The morning started with that crisp fall air we love, but this afternoon has turned surprisingly warm. That’s October in New England for you. 😂🍁

Fun cranberry fact: Cranberries are one of only a few fruits native to North America, and Massachusetts has been growing them commercially for more than 200 years!

Come stop by the barn store tomorrow from 10–4 and grab some of our New England-inspired scents to make your home feel like fall. 🍁 It’s also a great time to start your Thanksgiving and holiday gift giving!
