Wise Women Botanicals
Connie teaches a free live wellness class every Saturday, 11:30am CST β online, or in person at our Moberly, MO shop. Natural skincare, herbs and tinctures.
Everyone welcome; Connie starts from the ground up every time. Our philosophy at Wise Women Botanicals is to provide skincare, health and well being naturally, optimizing Essential Oils and the bounty Mother Nature has graciously supplied affordably. Greetings! My name is Connie Jacoby, Owner & originator of the Wise Women Botanicals concept. I have been a nurse for 20 or so years and became disenchanted with the creams and lotions hospitals supplied for the nursing staff. The products didn't protect or even moisturize very well. I found many of them were sticky or greasy and did not perform. I researched numerous types of creams, ingredients and found all things were not created equal. Goats Milk, Glycerin and Aloe are the three most healing and emollient products are natural and really do work. So, I started there and maintained all natural ingredients...Our preservative is from sugar cane cellulose. (Sweet, eh?)
Take a look at all the wonderful products we have to offer!
"I sort of have my mother's upper jaw, my father's lower jaw."
A lot of people don't realize, Connie says, that everybody's upper and lower jaw don't match. Hers certainly don't: the lower one is smaller. So every time she has anything done, she has to explain it to the dental professional she's seeing.
Most of us got something from each side of the family, and know exactly whose it was. What did you get from your mom, and what from your dad?
Free, live, Saturday mornings, the whole hour, and you can ask her anything.

"If somebody doesn't like the way I make it, I tell them they don't have to eat it."
Connie once put up two bushels of apples as apple butter and applesauce. Hers goes heavy on the cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. Some apples come out sweeter than others, and that doesn't bother her one bit.
Every family has a cook like that.

No class this Saturday β Connie is taking the morning off.
She has been teaching these live every Saturday for a long stretch, and every so often she needs a weekend back. This is one of them.
She'll be live again on Saturday, October 24, same time, same open hour where you can ask her anything.
If you aren't on the list yet, this is a good week to fix that. Register once and the link comes to you every week β you never have to go looking for it.

"I don't think I have missed coffee more than like five to seven times in the past 50 years."
Connie did the arithmetic out loud and surprised herself. She is 75. She has been drinking coffee since she was 15.
She hadn't noticed it was a streak until she stopped to count.
Most of us have one of these, the small thing we have done every day for so long it stopped feeling like a choice. What is yours?
Free, live, Saturday mornings, the whole hour, and you can ask her anything.

"Two wrongs don't make a right. That was one of my father's."
Connie has a whole set of these. Treat a person the way you want to be treated. Two wrongs don't make a right. And the one she says with a straight face: even if your mother's wrong, she's right.
Every family has its own list, said so many times nobody remembers the first time. What was the one in your house?
Free, live, Saturday mornings, the whole hour, and you can ask her anything.

"I made one of my first cherry pies with only honey and tapioca."
Connie cooked for Thanksgiving and tried a pie she had never made that way before: dark pitted cherries and tart cherries mixed together, a little honey, tapioca to set it. By her account it blended so well, and the flavor was amazing.
That is how most family recipes start. Somebody tries it once, it works, and it quietly becomes the way it is done.

Why does everyone seem sick right now? It's not your imagination.
Every fall it happens the same way. The kids go back to school, the weather turns, and a few weeks later it seems like everyone you know has a cold. This year is no different: common colds are on the rise across the country right now. Then the furnace kicks on, the air dries out, and the stuffy heads, scratchy throats and lingering coughs settle in for the season.
This Saturday Connie is giving the whole morning to the sinuses and lungs, starting with the air you breathe. Your nose and sinuses work best when they're moist, and dry indoor heat works against them. She'll cover humidity, fluids and steam, and how to use saline sprays and rinses properly, including the water-safety rule you can't skip.
Then the cough itself. A wet cough and a dry cough are doing different jobs, and they call for different responses. Connie will share where the traditional plant knowledge around coughs and chest comfort comes from, and how honey, rest and daily habits sit alongside it through the colder months.
And when it's time to call the doctor: shortness of breath, chest pain, a fever that hangs on, or a cough that's lasted more than three weeks. If you have asthma, COPD or a heart condition, or take prescription medication, talk to your doctor before adding anything new. Nothing on Saturday replaces your doctor, and Connie will say so first.

"I did not eat collard greens or mustard greens until about four months ago."
Connie is in her seventies. She has talked about greens in seminar after seminar, and it turns out that for most of her life she would not eat these two.
Her reason was the one a lot of us had as kids: they looked like grass. Cooked grass.
Now she has a bowl, as long as they are not too hot, and she says they are very good. Most of us have one food like that, the one we finally tried decades later. What was yours?
Free, live, Saturday mornings, the whole hour, and you can ask her anything.

"If you like chemistry, you'll love it, but I hated chemistry in school."
Connie is recommending one of her favorite books, a huge one, all carbon chains and molecules, and halfway through recommending it she stops to own up.
She did not like chemistry. Not a little. She had to take it again in the summer.
It is a good thing to know about the person teaching you. She did not arrive knowing this; she got there the slow way, same as anybody. What was the subject you had to take twice?
Free, live, Saturday mornings, the whole hour, and you can ask her anything.
