The top 3 things I want you to avoid during the first 7–10 days after your cosmetic tattoo:

1. Excessive sweating
Before everyone panics and thinks they can’t work out for 10 days—don’t worry. I’m not talking about a normal workout. I’m talking about sweating bullets and having sweat drip down your forehead.

If you want to exercise, that’s usually fine. Just dial it back a little. Take breaks between sets, stay in front of a fan, keep cool, and listen to your body. The goal is to avoid excessive sweating over the tattoo while it’s healing.

2. Long sun exposure
I feel like this one is pretty self-explanatory, but it still needs to be said. You don’t want to spend hours laying out in the sun with a fresh wound on your forehead.

Going from your car to the store? Totally fine. Living your normal life? Totally fine. What I want you to avoid is intentional sunbathing, tanning, or spending long periods in direct sunlight during those first several days.

3. Submerging the tattoo in water
This is the one that gets misunderstood the most.

When I say “avoid water,” people immediately think they can’t wash their face or shower. That’s not what I mean at all.

I don’t want direct water pressure hitting the tattoo, and I don’t want the area submerged underwater. For example, if you just had your brows done, don’t stand facing the showerhead and don’t dunk your head underwater in a pool, lake, or bathtub.

You can absolutely shower and cleanse the area as directed. I just want you to be mindful of how much water the tattoo is exposed to.

And honestly, that’s about it.

Aftercare is so much easier than people make it out to be. Follow these three simple guidelines for the first 7–10 days, and you’ll be setting yourself up for beautiful healed results.

✨ Easier than you thought, right? ✨

For those of you I haven’t met in person, my name is Elizabeth Cochran, and I am the owner and artist behind Cosmetic Restoration, formerly known as Boss Brows.

Most people know me as the brow girl, but not everyone knows how I got here.

Ever since I was little, I’ve been an artist. I was in Talented Art throughout high school and eventually earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design. After graduation, I went straight into the workforce as a graphic designer for a small company in West Monroe.

I stayed there for eight and a half years.

There were good memories, people I cared about, and experiences that helped shape me. But there was also a lot of stress, anxiety, and heartbreak. The longer I stayed, the more I felt like I was losing myself. I poured everything I had into that job, but I never truly felt appreciated for what I brought to the table.

I can’t tell you how many times I sat in my car after work and cried.

I can’t tell you how many Sundays were ruined because I was already dreading Monday morning.

I can’t tell you how many nights I laid awake wondering if this was really what the rest of my life was supposed to look like.

One Wednesday afternoon, I hit my limit.

I remember thinking, “I can’t do this anymore.”

So I walked away.

No backup plan. No guarantee. No safety net.

Just an email thanking them for the opportunity and a whole lot of fear about what came next.

Looking back, it was one of the scariest decisions I’ve ever made, but it was also the best decision I’ve ever made.

A few days later, my mom called and said, “I think you’d make a great microblading artist.”

I had absolutely no idea what microblading was.

But if you know me, you know that once I get interested in something, I dive in headfirst. I started researching immediately and found an academy in Dallas. When I called, they told me they only offered a few trainings each year, and there just happened to be one the following weekend with a single seat left.

One seat.

I took it.

To this day, I still believe that was fate.

Starting my own business was terrifying. There were moments I thought I had completely lost my mind. If it weren’t for my mom helping me through those early days, I honestly don’t know where I would be. Probably sitting on the couch crying because I couldn’t figure out how to start a business.

What I didn’t realize at the time was that all those years as a graphic designer had been preparing me for this. Marketing, branding, photography, design—it all became part of building the business I have today.

The truth is, Cosmetic Restoration wasn’t built overnight. It was built through blood, sweat, tears, self-doubt, determination, and a refusal to give up.

Most importantly, it was built because of my clients.

Every recommendation, every referral, every kind review, and every person who trusted me enough to sit in my chair helped make this dream possible.

What I love most about what I do isn’t brows. It’s confidence.

It’s watching someone look in the mirror and smile.

It’s helping women—and men—feel more like themselves again.

If there’s one thing I’d want you to know about me, it’s that I am an artist first. I believe cosmetic tattooing should look natural, realistic, and timeless. My goal has never been to make people look different. My goal is to help people look like the best version of themselves.

I have a soft heart. I genuinely care about every person who walks through my door. And I will always do everything I can to give you the very best experience and results possible.

Sometimes the hardest seasons of life end up leading us exactly where we’re supposed to be.

For me, that’s Cosmetic Restoration.

What you’re seeing is NOT the final result.

Immediately after a lip blush procedure, the color will appear much brighter and more intense than it will once healed. Over the next 7–10 days, the color will soften by approximately 70% as the lips heal and any mild swelling subsides.

Then comes the magic. Between weeks 4–6, a process called “color blooming” takes place. During this stage, the true healed color gradually reveals itself as the skin fully regenerates and the pigment settles into place.

At your perfecting appointment, we’ll evaluate the healed results and add more color to help achieve your desired end goal. Lip blush is a two-step process, and the second session is where we fine-tune and build upon the foundation created during the first treatment.

A common question I get is, “Why do we start so bold?”

Because with lip blush, the bolder the initial implantation, the better the healed retention. The lips naturally exfoliate and shed pigment during healing, so starting with a stronger color helps ensure beautiful long-term results.

Pain level? Most clients are pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the procedure is. Mild swelling is completely normal and typically resolves quickly.

Trust the process. The final healed result is always worth the wait. 💋

Cosmetic tattooing and traditional tattooing may have the same license, but we are totally different. I’m honored to be nominated in the tattoo shop category and the eyebrow category. I would love nothing more than to have y’all support to bring home this award.
