I used to raise reptiles. I loved finding snakes and taking a moment to commune with them in nature and pick up ones willing. Over the years I have developed a fear of being bitten. I hadn’t been bitten. I think I just lost some of my bravery. Still love to see them, but not picking them up. Today this little guy was on my driveway and I could hear him call to be picked up. It’s cold out and a warm hand would be welcome for a moment. So….i did just that. Reached down and gently held him for a minute. We both got a moment of healing in a way. He got warmth from the cold, and I saw a glimmer of me I haven’t seen in a long time. Courageous, bold, adventurous me. I felt settled and familiar. Yea it was just a little baby garter snake, but she had big medicine for me. Snake had always held the meaning of transformation, healing, and empowerment to me. What animal brings you to your bold self?
